Those well meaning folks over at the World Wildlife Foundation are upset that the Canadian government is auctioning off the rights to oil and gas exploration on more than 2.9 million acres of continental shelf in the Beaufort Sea, north of the Yukon and Northwest Territories. Perhaps I would feel a little more bitter about this if the spokes person was a little more educated on the topic. click From the CTV article...
"These are areas where polar bears and bowhead whales and beluga whales and who knows what else call home," Dr. Peter Ewins, WWF Canada's director, told CTV.ca on Thursday. "Clearly these areas are important, perhaps critical, habitat for the pressured polar bears."
"and who knows what else call home"????? I bet there are a bunch of people that know what else call that area home. Some of them might actually have ties to the WWF. And and and perhaps, well maybe, quite possibly they might also know about the polar bears habitat. They may even know that the polar bears are not "pressured". The polar bears population has been doubling every decade since the 1970's. We wouldn't want to mention that the disappearing habit has reappeared this winter with a vengeance. Why is it that he makes no mention of the real dangers? You know, like oil spills... Nope , gotta stick to the whole "global warming" mantra. These people are their own worst enemies. Just keep screaming FIRE in the packed stadium when in reality it is just a few people flicking their BIC's. When will they learn?
Take the GLOBAL WARMING TEST. It is only 10 simple questions, but something tells me that Al Gore, David Suzuki, Stephane Dion and the like would fail it big time. It requires common sense!
