Unlikely...
I did not miss not having the internet to waste away my time over the past couple weeks either. I had better things to do. Enjoying nothing but fresh air, sunshine, wildlife galore and most of all... FISHING! I probably averaged 9 hours a day out on the lake catching walleye, perch and the biggest Northern Pike of my life. Nothing like fighting a big fish on light tackle. I was actually fishing for and catching walleye at the time I caught this one. I was only using my medium action rod with 8 pound test line spooled on my spinning reel, a quarter ounce fuzzy grub jig with a leach. Let me say that Shimano makes a fine drag system on this reel! She almost stripped me clean of line twice and also managed to tow the boat a good 400 yards out into the depths of the lake. She measured 44 inches long, and about 17 inches in girth. I say about, as it is not easy to hold a 25 plus pound pike in one hand and try to measure it with the other. Not to mention she really was not very cooperative. Roxy my faithful fish hound was not too excited about having this beast in our little 12 foot boat either. In this case, two was company and three definitely made it a bit crowded.
Much to the dismay of many of the old timers up at Fawcett lake, once I had the measurements and a single not so good picture, I released her back into the lake to go along her merry way. I will in time have a graphite mount done of her for the cabin wall. It should look great right beside my 32 inch walleye that I caught a few years ago.
So now you know where I have been...
I don't fish for a living... I live to fish!
Oh yea... the not so good picture...

Summers is right around the bend
You know where you will find me...
Sorry for the lack of posts and or responses to comments. I have been a tad busy working out in the yard here in the shitty city as well as up at the cabin. I have managed to squeeze in a few hours of fishing as well... :)
Posting might resume come Monday. Have a great weekend!

I'm in love
I went to the Sportsman show on Saturday. It was not very impressive by any means. It seems to get worse each year. I doubt that I will waste my time or money on it next year.
On a more positive note...
As I was wondering around looking at all the boats, I ran into the lady of my dreams. She is practical, easy on the eyes, loves the water, loves to fish and goes topless on a regular basis. A package I can hardly resist!
I can picture me spending A LOT of time with her...

My Bags are Packed

I'm ready to go...
I ain't haggin round here no more
I just had stop in to say goodbye
But the fish are waitin', it's late morn
Roxy's impatient, she blowin' the horn
I'm so happy to leave I could cry
So wish for me, and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Already I'm so happy I could cry
Cause I'm leavin' to go fishin'
I won't be back for a couple of weekends
Scold me when I get back home
I'm gone on holidays for two weeks. I have turned on moderation, why I don't know as I don't get very much traffic anymore. Oh well better to play it safe.
Yak at you all when I get back somewhere around the 5th of August.
Enjoy!

Three Days of Fishing

It is a long weekend and I'm gone fishing as per usual. My daughter has surprised me and asked if she and her boyfriend could tag along. Neither of them drive. Three adults, one Black Lab and all our gear in my little Suzuki Sidekick.... It's gonna be a fun trip! Did I mention it is a two and a half hour drive to the cabin? Roxy the Lab is my co-pilot, so she gets the front passenger seat. Sucks to be those two don't it...
Gone Fishing By Chris Rea From the CD Auberge...
(Lyrics "modified")
I'm going fishing
I got me a line
Nothing I do is gonna make the difference
So I'm taking the time
And you ain't never gonna be happy
Anyhow, anywaySo I'm going Unless you go fishing
And I'm going today
I'm going fishing
Sounds crazy I know
I know nothing lots about fishingBut just watch me go
And when my time has come
I will look back and see
Peace on the shorelineThat could have been meThats the way it should be
You can waste a whole lifetime
Trying to be
What you think is expected of you
But you'll never be free
May as well go fishing
P.S.

Fishin Friday
UPDATED at 6:15 PM:
Fishing canceled due to illness in the family. My poor puppy has been sick all day. The vet says she should be okay to travel, but I am not going to take any chances.
New tag... Wishin' I was Fishin'
The Fishing Song performed by The Arrogant Worms
It's early in the morning, way before dawn
I down a cup of coffee, put my lucky hat on
Get down to the water before all the crowds
Gonna have more fun than the law allows
With my hot rod, I go out to cruise
When I'm on the prowl, I never lose
I fire up my Merc and put the throttle down
'Cause I've got the fastest fishing boat in town
I open up my tackle box, it's so big!
Crank baits, sink baits, beer and jigs
Got my bobbers on, and my 10 pound test
Gonna catch me a lunker gonna be the best
(Gonna go fishing) Gonna have some fun
(Gonna go fishing) 'Cause it's number one
(Gonna go fishing) Gonna sit on my butt
(Gonna catch a fish) And scrape out its guts
Ahhh, fishing!
I fish on the lake, by the sunken tree stump
Between the sewage output, and the chemical dump
Don't swim in the lake, says a sign on a tree
It's a good thing that fish can't read
I got my 10 dollar lure, the one that floats
And I make a big cast from my 20 grand boat
With my thousand dollar rod, or maybe it's more
Gonna catch me a fish that's 5 bucks at the store
(Gonna go fishing) Gonna have some fun
(Gonna go fishing) 'Cause it's number one
(Gonna go fishing) Gonna sit on my butt
(Gonna catch a fish) And scrape out its guts
Ahhh, fishing!
I feel something tugging on the end of my line
(Tug, tug, tug, tug, tug that line)
I'm gonna catch a fish, it's gonna be so fine
(Fish, fish, fish, fish, fish so fine)
Oh it feels so good to touch fish slime
(Slime, slime, slime, slime, fishy slime)
There's nothing else to do with my free time
(Time, time, time, time, waste of time)
Ahhh, Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh, ahhhhhhh
Let's catch a fishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfish
Eat a fishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfish
Swallow a fishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfish
Digest a fishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfish
Out comes the fishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfish
It was a fishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfish
(Gonna go fishing) Gonna have some fun
(Gonna go fishing) 'Cause it's number one
(Gonna go fishing) Gonna sit on my butt
(Gonna catch a fish) And scrape out its guts
Ahhh
(Gonna go fishing) Gonna have some fun
(Gonna go fishing) 'Cause it's number one
(Gonna go fishing) Gonna sit on my butt
(Gonna catch a fish) And scrape out its guts
Ahhh, fish-fish-fishing C-A-N-A-D-A!
