Your Tax Dollars Hard at Work

After solving all of Canada's political problems, our politicians work on solving the problem of choosing players for Team Canada with emphasis on the captain.

The Bloc Québécois is demanding Shane Doan be removed as captain of Canada's world championship hockey team, in light of the disparaging comments he allegedly made about French Canadians in 2005.

I think we should give these people a raise. They are obviously over worked.../sarc

How Socialists Find Cash

Professor Fruity McFly
Professor Fruity McFly

Socialist

Pull out your wallet and odds are good a pesky socialist will find you by the time you can open it. Turns out, the socialist party members navigate using some crazy mathematical rules that suggest 60% of people are gullible enough to donate to them for any cause.

"Money is extraordinarily attractive to them," said the new studies co-author Fruity McFly of FFRU (Fruit Flies Are Us). "I wouldn't be surprised if the animal came from miles away."

Scientist have known that socialists (Cranial Rectitus) use visual cues to make quick turns and prevent nasty collisions with nearby conservatives.

"So we knew what was causing a socialist to steer when it got close to conservatives," McFly said. The new study, which will be published in the May issue of the journal "Buzz One", reveals what they didn't know: why the socialists make swift twists and turns when in the middle of nowhere, far from conservatives.

McFly and his colleague, Sandy Lafly of Rottedstuff Research in Canada, used two video cameras to track socialists in dome like enclosures, at the bottom of which they hid a money source. Inside the enclosure, each socialist made a bunch of 90 degree turns followed by a longer straight path.

"With all of those small turns they search the local vicinity and then make a foray to move away and then they search that local vicinity again and make a foray, McFly told TABaker.

An analysis of the paths showed the socialists followed a tried and true method for sniffing out the cash.

"Their stradegy is trying to optimize two things," McFly said. "They want to detect a money source that is very strong, and they want to move around enough that they don't get stuck in one place where there isn't much cash."

The socialists seemingly erratic paths match up with a mathematical algorithm called redistribution, which optimizes the chances of finding the most gullible.

Conservatives do relatively the same thing without realizing it, while, for example, standing in the kitchen and trying to pinpoint the source of a noxious odor. “You stand still and sniff around and realize it’s not here, so you move down to the refrigerator and you sniff again—am I getting warmer or colder?” McFly explained. "usually it only takes a short while to discover the smell is coming from out side your home and that there is a socialist in your nieghbourhood." Concluded McFly.

Climate Change Smorg

Many have seen the Liberal TV Ad portraying Dion slamming down the gavel and declaring... "decided!", that supposedly shows he is a leader. How many actually know what the add is talking about? What was decided? Lorrie Goldstein explains

In the end, the diplomats managed to eke out an agreement for a two-year round of non-binding talks under the UNFCCC that 'will not open any negotiations leading to new commitments' (as the official wording says) but could set the stage for future talks.

So basically Dion managed to get everyone to decide to talk about doing more talking about Kyoto. What an amazing accomplishment! Way to go Stephen, you the man...

If Greg Weston's family of 3 plus his pooch are "filthy-Earth-warming-gas-belching eco-terrorists", then I can't fathom what environment Canada would consider me... I went to the site at Environment Canada Greg speaks about in the article linked to above. According to their calculator, I am pumping out about 13.9 tonnes of greenhouse gases yearly. That does not include the methane that I just can't seem to get under control, as they don't ask about that or I am sure the number would be much much higher. They claim the Canadian average is 5.5 tonnes. Now I don't know how this calculator works, but I live in an older 1000 sq ft home that I have renovated substantially. Extra insulation, new windows, new hot water tank, new furnace, energy star appliances, and the list goes on. I have even switched as much of the lighting as I can to CFL's. I drive a small 4 cyl vehicle that is well maintained. I produce less that one bag of garbage and less than one bag of recyclables per month, which is mostly junk mail and flyer's! I have no idea what more I could do to reduce things further. I guess I am penalized substantially for living alone with my faithful dog.

Baird fires back at Gore's attack on climate plan

"It is difficult to accept criticism from someone who preaches about climate change, but who never submitted the Kyoto Protocol to a vote in the United States Senate, who never did as much as Canada is now doing to fight climate change during eight years in office, and who has campaigned exclusively for hundreds of Democratic candidates who have weaker plans to fight greenhouse gases than Canada's New Government."

"We're going much farther than Al Gore went. He was the second most powerful man in the world and greenhouse gas emissions went up when he was vice-president."

"You know, it's easy when you've had the big job and then you're on the side lines -- it's easy to complain," Baird added. "My responsibility, our government's responsibility, is to act. If we came forward with our environmental plan in the United States, they'd call it revolutionary because it's so tough."

So to some things up here, all those people including Dion and Gore that are criticizing this plan as not doing enough, have in fact done nothing when they had the power to do something. Wonder why that is?

Moving right along... Be very careful switching over to the new CFL bulbs. You certainly don't want to end up like Brandy Bridges of Ellsworth, Maine, who unfortunately broke a CFL bulb in her daughters bedroom...

Aware that CFLs contain potentially hazardous substances, Bridges called her local Home Depot for advice. The store told her that the CFL contained mercury and that she should call the Poison Control hotline, which in turn directed her to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

It just gets worse from then on...

Lastly we have another story coming from Mars... Climate change hits Mars

Mars is being hit by rapid climate change and it is happening so fast that the red planet could lose its southern ice cap, writes Jonathan Leake.

Scientists from Nasa say that Mars has warmed by about 0.5C since the 1970s. This is similar to the warming experienced on Earth over approximately the same period.

Since there is no known life on Mars it suggests rapid changes in planetary climates could be natural phenomena.

But that can't be right... that goes against everything we are hearing from the eco freaks. It must be the wind! Ya thats it...
In a paper published in the journal Nature, she suggests that such winds can stir up giant dust storms, trapping heat and raising the planet’s temperature.

Just cannot be the big ball of fire in the sky causing the heating on the planets... no frickin way... uh uh... deny deny deny... common sense is still dead...

Al Gore says Tories' green plan a 'fraud'

If anyone should know what constitutes "fraud", Al Gore should. His whole life revolves around it. It truly is an "Inconvenient Truth" regarding Al's life style. He travels around the world screaming how we heathens are destroying the planet, while his very own actions do more harm to the environment in one day than the average person does in a year. He claims to do it to save the planet. The planet does not need to be saved. He is doing it to make megatonnes of money. Thanks to the many sheep out there that will believe everything he says, he is succeeding at doing just that.

“In my opinion, it is a complete and total fraud,” Mr. Gore said. “It is designed to mislead the Canadian people.”

Mr. Gore acknowledged he is not a Canadian citizen and said he has “no right to interfere in your decisions.”

However, he said, the rest of the world looks to Canada for moral leadership, and that's why this week's announcement was so “shocking.”

You are correct Al. You have no right to interfere... so take your movie and your lies and stuff them. And this guy has the balls to talk about morals? "Shocking"

It's Never Enough for you Dave

Cardinal Suzuki of the Church of Climatology has spoken

"It's not enough, John,"

Respected(?) environmentalist David Suzuki came out swinging Friday, calling the plan an embarrassment that was more of a sham than a strategy. Suzuki said the government must meet the terms of the Kyoto accord on time -- regardless of expense. (emphasis mine)

Talk about jumping the shark! I suppose if I was willing to scam people out of their money with some kind of foundation and never have to worry where my next paycheck was coming from, I too could make asinine statements like that. Unfortunately, most people have to work for a living and our paychecks are a direct result of how well the economy is doing. If the economy takes a hit, so will a lot of jobs and so much for the taxes those jobs pay that pay for these not so well thought out socialist plans of Suzuki and his ilk.

I have but one question for you Dave and those that think like you...

Will you pay me my wages when the shit hits the fan so I don't lose everything and that I can continue to enjoy the same life style I have today as meager as it is?

Ya... thats what I thought...

No Respect

Growing up in the 60's and 70's with a little fear, never hurt me one bit. It did manage to teach me the right perspective though. A little thing called RESPECT, which is sadly lacking in our youth this day and age. I was never abused physically by my parents. Mentally maybe... One simple sentence from my mother would make me straighten out my act in a hurry. "You wait till your father gets home" POOF... instantly I would become a perfect little angel. Not because I was abused, but because I was afraid of being abused... Fear is a great motivator. It was the line in the sand that children at one time understood very well. This also worked quite well at school. The principal at my elementary school was a very big man. Over 6 foot tall and well over 200 pounds. The sight of him was very intimidating although he was a big Teddy Bear. Just knowing if you were to cross the line, you would have to face him and possibly get the strap from this burly man, was usually enough to keep most kids in line. Should you be foolish enough to push the limits, you would learn quickly not to go there again.

Today I read the news and screamed... Are these people for real?

Font: * * * * OTTAWA (CP) - Canada should ban spanking and launch an information campaign to ban all forms of corporal punishment, the Senate human rights committee said Thursday.

The committee's report also called on the federal government to develop a strategy to combat bullying and help teach children and their parents how to resolve conflicts without resorting to physical intimidation.

The recommendations were part of document that accused the government of failing to live up to its international obligations by denying children their right to influence government decisions.[...]

"Denying children their right to influence government decisions"? WTF?

Perhaps these enlightened ones would like to give our kids the right to vote. Baby Dawn at 2 weeks old surely can make an informed decision on who would be best suited to run the country... Have any of these people ever raised a child? It is this kind of nutty thinking that is making parenting more difficult and nearly impossible to have any form of discipline. Then they wonder why there is a problem with "bullying" amongst our kids these days. I can tell you why. It is the lack of respect. No respect for authority. No respect for their parents. No respect for teachers. No respect for each other. The worst of all is ... No respect for life!

Baited Boat

I watched a documentary last weekend about organized crime in Montreal. One statement by a former Rock Machine member caught my attention. "We would call the RCMP and tell them of a specific ship coming in that had drugs on board. We would ship a small quantity of drugs on that ship that the RCMP would be focused on. Mean while, another ship would come in unhampered, that would have tons of drugs on it". Why did that statement grab my attention? Just prior to watching that show the big news was that the RCMP had been given a "tip" that there was a ship coming in full of stowaways on it. The RCMP had searched that ship and found nothing. Maybe Interim Commissioner Bev Busson was watching the same show?

Was ship stowaway tip a decoy?

HALIFAX — The Mounties are checking to see if organized crime planted false information to prompt a massive search for stowaways on a container ship that came to Halifax earlier this month.

Interim Commissioner Bev Busson said Thursday she “wouldn't have been surprised” if someone planted information to divert police attention towards the Cypriot-registered Cala Puebla — which became the focus of a massive search involving dozens of police and Canada Border Services Agency officers on April 10. Turning the Corner

And going the wrong way down a one way street.

The federal government has joined the crusade against old-style incandescent light bulbs as part of its environment plan that vows to phase out power-hungry lighting by 2012, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and cut air pollution.

The Conservative government's environmental plan, called “Turning the Corner,” aims to stop the rise in greenhouse gases within five years, and reduce emission rates by 20 per cent of last year's rate by the year 2020. [...]

I was really hoping that PM Harper and his gang would stick to cleaning up real pollutions and leave the fear mongering of climate change to the socialists. No such luck.

Even though the CPOC government has not announced all of its plans for the protection of the environment, the socialist are yelling and screaming as usual, that it just does not go far enough! They must be psychic!

But critics say the measures barely scratch the surface of what is needed and will leave Canada lagging well behind other countries.

Representatives from organizations such as the Sierra Club and the David Suzuki Foundation came out Wednesday to criticize the plan, labelling it a very loud admission that Canada has effectively abandoned its commitments under the Kyoto Protocol.

I need a drink...

Think for Yourself

Global warming or if you prefer climate change... subscribing to herd mentality

The global warming fad that still has currency is largely the result of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), whose summary of the views of 2,500 "scientists" (not climatologists) blames humans for changes that common sense indicates are more from nature than man-made technology. The Kyoto accord arising from global warming hysteria, is more a wealth distributing boondoggle than a realistic measure to curb greenhouse gases (read, carbon dioxide).[...]

The trouble with the climate change buffs is that they want science to become consensus. That's not how science works. Ask Galileo.[...}

Freeman Dyson of the Urban Renaissance Institute and a Princeton professor, is called a "scientific heretic" because he disputes conventional wisdom about global warming, which he calls "fluff." Computerized models that predict disaster from CO2 emissions in the atmosphere, and the earth's temperature slowly rising, ignore other realities, such as the sun is getting hotter. Other planets, like Mars, are warming.

None of this implies we should not conserve energy, and not waste natural resources that took millions of years to produce. It means that the comfort of consensus should not preclude scientists (and non-scientists) from thinking for themselves.[...]

Sometimes common sense does prevail. Too bad it is in such short supply.

Scientific Hypocrisy

38 British climate scientists want "The Great Global Warming Swindle" edited/censored before it is released on DVD.

"Free speech does not extend to misleading the public by making factually inaccurate statements," he said. "Somebody has to stand up for the public interest here."

Wag TV's Mark Durkin producer of the film, called the letter "loathsome."
"This is a contemptible, weasel-worded attempt to gag scientific criticism, and it won't work," he said. "I don't believe they're interested in quality control when it comes to the reporting of science -- so long as it's on their side."

Notice that these so-called climate scientists did not call on Al Gore to edit his award winning movie "An Inconvenient Truth", which is full of information that is as they put it, "misleading the public by making factually inaccurate statements." Why is it that they are not standing up for the public interest there? After all, their government is one of many that has Al on the payroll and plans on sending copies of his "Inaccurate Truths" to schools around England.

The Ontario government is formally rejecting the idea of installing anti-pollution scrubbers on its coal-fired electrical stations because of the cost.

That cost is $1.6 billion. Breath easy people of Ontario, as the scrubbers that have been scrubbed, would not reduce CO2 output, just the massive amounts of air pollution they spew.

Piss Poor Judge... ment

Here we go again. Basil Parasiris admits to killing a police officer, was found to be in possession of a small quantity of drugs, more than $100,000.00 dollars in cash, 4 guns and ammunition at the time of a search warrant being executed on his home. He even admitted he was selling drugs for 3 years after running into financial problems. So I guess the best thing for a judge to do in this case is to grant him bail. Makes perfect sense doesn't it... WTF?

If this is not the most asinine judgment I have ever heard, I don't know what is... I really don't care what conditions he has or how much bail his relatives had to post. Justice? What justice? We don't need no stinking justice... this is Canada, where everyone is inherently good in the eyes of the courts.

Now that I have gotten that off my chest, when did 5 AM become night time? One more question that I would like answered is, when did performing a "dynamic entry" during a search warrant become a Knock Knock joke? Never mind, I just realized I already know the answers to both. When you let Quebec Superior Court Justice Jean-Guy Boilard make that call. Disgusting, absolutely disgusting.

Thousands march to pressure Tories on Kyoto... Sounds impressive doesn't it. In typical fashion, the MSM uses word smithing to make it sound better than it is for those who believe in the cause. Lets see...

"thousands" marched in Montreal with smaller crowds gathering across the country

Notice how no real estimate is given on the crowd in Montreal, just "thousands". Thousands could mean anywhere from two thousand to 999 thousand. I wonder which thousand it really was? Perhaps it was under two thousand and the estimator just liked the sound of "thousands". Who knows... They go on to mention that only 300 turned out in Ottawa and a mere 250 in Canada's largest city, Toronto. Using that as a basis and that they don't bother to mention any other cities in the country, I can only assume that there were perhaps 17 demonstrators in Winnipeg, 20 in Regina, 14 in Saskatoon, 25 in Calgary, 23 in Edmonton, and giving B.C. the benefit of doubt, perhaps another 200 in both Vancouver and Victoria. Add them all up and as you can see we just may get into the "thousands" here folks...

Is this the best they can do to save our glorious planet from the evil climate change? Hell, we get more than 17,000 people out to Rexal Place in the middle of a winter snow storm to watch the Oilers lose. I guess Climate change and Kyoto really are not that high on the peoples priority list after all. Thank God!

Our Justice System

Failing Canadians, one criminal at a time... And don't give me that crap that our crime rates are dropping. The only thing that is dropping is the time criminals spend behind bars and the numbers that are actually convicted for the crimes they commit. Our system would rather hand out "alternative sentences" than put criminals behind bars. Our system is allowing criminals to go free because our so called progressive society puts more emphasis on protecting the criminals rights rather than law abiding citizens or the victims rights. Not to mention that we hold our police to such a high standard, it is simply amazing that anyone is ever convicted at all. Our officers are expected not to make any errors what so ever. Dot every i, cross every t as any small error could and does sometimes allow the accused to walk free. The only rule a criminal has is, and it is a simple one, Don't get caught... Crime does pay, quite well in fact, especially in Canada, and that is why many people turn to it rather than work for a living... When will we ever learn?

It's All in the Translation

Doris Moore is all upset about the name used to describe the color of her new Chinese made couch. She went public with it a couple days ago and has now gotten an explanation and an apology from the culprit.

Kingsoft Corp., a Chinese software company, acknowledged its translation program was at fault and said it was a regrettable error.

"I know this is a very bad word," Huang Luoyi, a product manager for the Beijing-based company's translation software, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.

He explained that when the Chinese characters for "dark brown" are typed into an older version of its Chinese-English translation software, the offensive N-word description comes up.

"We got the definition from a Chinese-English dictionary. We've been using the dictionary for 10 years. Maybe the dictionary was updated, but we probably didn't follow suit," he said.

That just wont do...
Moore is consulting with a lawyer and wants compensation. Last week, she filed a report with the Ontario Human Rights Commission.

It gets worse...
"Something more has to be done. We don't just need a personal apology, but someone needs to own up to where these labels were made, and someone needs to apologize to all people of color," Moore said. "I had friends over from St. Lucia yesterday and they wouldn't sit on the couch."

In my opinion, Doris Moore is abusing the system and making a mountain out of a mole hill. Translation... She won't be happy till she sees some cash in the palm of her hand. I am fairly certain, unfortunately, that the Ontario Human Rights Commission has far better things to do than this.

Frank Pinhorn, executive director of the Canadian Sealers Association, said the ice conditions are the most severe he's seen in 25 to 30 years.

As the US of A government is trying to make up its mind regarding the declaration of polar bears being an endangered species compliments of groups like Green Peace... they are asked to Do the Math
"There are in fact more polar bears in the world now than there were 40
years ago. The main threat to polar bears in recent decades has been from
hunting, with estimates as low as 5,000 to 10,000 bears in the 1950s and
1960s. But thanks to conservation efforts, and some cross-border
cooperation among the U.S., Canada and Russia, the best estimate today is
that the polar bear population is 20,000 to 25,000."

Speaking of Washington...Ethanol may cause more smog, deaths: study

Switching from gasoline to ethanol -- touted as a green alternative at the pump -- may create dirtier air, causing slightly more smog-related deaths, a new study says.

Then we have this little unexpected turbulance regarding Hurricanes...
Many researchers believe warming is causing the storms to get stronger, while others aren't so sure. Now, a new study raises the possibility that global warming might even make it harder for hurricanes to form.

Lastly we have the Drought Advisory Committee in Montana canceling its meeting because...
“Due to the wonderful inclement weather and the accumulating moisture levels in Montana today and the wet forecast for tomorrow, we are canceling the Drought Advisory meeting of 19 April,”

Its not nice to mess with Mother Nature...

Dis May

Lizzy has taken the time to get out from under the metaphorical sheets with Dion to make an actual politically sounding statement for her party instead of the Liberals.

“I think it's far more likely that Liberals, former Progressive Conservatives and former New Democratic voters are going to coalesce around my campaign as the most effective, high-profile campaign,”

There is no doubt in my mind that this three way race will indeed be a high profile one as the MSM will be watching it very close. How effective her campaign will be, is another story. If it is anything like we have seen so far from May... lets just say it will be a two horse race and the NDP's Louise Lorefice, not May, that will be running neck and neck with MacKay.

She then goes on to add this little bit...

“One more New Democratic member (of Parliament) will make no difference for Central Nova. But the leader of the Green Party of Canada in the House of Commons . . . will make a real difference.”

Using her logic in that statement, which I am sure nobody with a clue about politics will... Congratulations Mr. MacKay for yet another win!

Drug Lords R US

Our government marks up medical marijuana 1,500% and it is still cheaper than what you can buy it on the streets for. I have a few questions that I would like answered...

1) How can our government justify this outrageous mark up?
2) Why has not the government and or the insurance companies taken some sort of action to get the cost of this covered under some sort of plan?
3) Why is the quality of it so bad?
4) Why are the RCMP and other police forces around the country burning literally tons of the shit each year, when they could be giving it to those who really need it?

Out with the old...

Albertans have had the same license plate for more than 20 years. My 1993 version is sure showing its age which could be a good thing (avoiding photo radar and red light camera's)as it is getting hard to read. Not to mention that the many layers of "year labels" is starting to get a bit much.

Looks like we shall be getting a new design in the next year or two as the province is quickly running out of numbers to put on the existing plates. I thought I would take a trip back trough time to see what our current plates have evolved from. Not very impressive if you ask me. So based on what Rick Bell had to say in his article over at the Edmonton Sun today, I came up with this design, which does keep the wild rose in its current place. Basically my design is the 1973 version which uses the provincial colors, combined with the 1984 version, and changed out the "wild rose country" for the provinces actual motto of Strong and Free.

In with the new?

Cherniak on Politics

A proud Loser...

The truth is that I didn't pick Dion with some premonition that he was going to win. Quite the opposite, I picked him because when we met I realized that I agreed with just about everything he had to say. I really didn't expect him to win, but I decided that he was a person I would be proud to lose with.

I can't believe that I did not have to make this up.

Flock together or so the saying goes. The only question left is, which one is the chicken and which one is the T Rex? Not that it will matter in the long run as Peter MacKay will devour May in the next election regardless. As far as Dion is concerned, well lets say he seems to be into self-cannibalism. He continues to bite off his own nose to spite his face.

Tears Are the Silent Language of Grief

Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events.
Sir Winston Churchill

Global Warming Food Shortage

More bad news from the folks over at the IPCC.

Warming temperatures could result in food shortages for 130 million people across Asia by 2050 and cause potentially catastrophic problems in Africa by wiping out one of the continent's staple crops altogether, according to a UN report released Tuesday.

I find that statement quit intriguing, as one of the wonderful solutions that the environuts have for saving the planet from global warming is using our food supply to feed our vehicles. Yes, rather than feeding the starving populations we shall use that food to make biofuel to feed our cars. Makes perfect sense now don't it.

Let kids be kids

I am always amazed that my generation survived with all the evil, dangerous things we had to eat not mention the dangerous playground equipment we had to endure.

I had to laugh when an Australian study recently found that playground injuries continue to rise despite safety improvements. One of the suspected reasons: the safe new play structures are so boring that kids are taking more risks in order to have fun.

But you can't go around afraid of everything. It's too exhausting! No matter how careful you are, bad stuff happens (diaper rash, stitches, all your friends assigned to another class). And it's seldom the end of the world.

Read the whole article. And quit worrying so damn much. We survived and so will our kids and their kids and so on and so on...

Cha Cha Cha Changes

Mother Nature has her way of adapting to everything. You no doubt have heard how with global warming, the oceans will rise and cause flooding on low lying area's. In a twist of fate, Mother Nature has come to the rescue to protect the Island of Ranongga in the Solomon Islands from rising sea levels. But you won't see anyone mentioning that fact anytime soon. Instead you will hear how the islands coral reef was destroyed and the possibility that the fishery in the area will suffer. Negative news sells...

This is just another example that proves that our world is ever changing whether we like it or not. We humans cannot and do not control, or cause everything. Although we certainly like to think we can and do.

We are all at the mercy of Mother Nature no matter where we live.

Happy Easter Eater

It saddens me to announce that one of Easters regular participants will not be making the rounds this weekend. I apologize to everyone especially the children for the mistake that was made. It was an unfortunate accident. Myself nor my faithful hunting companion had any idea that this rabbit was "THE ONE". Apparently, he had put down his little basket of chocolate just prior to this incident and it was not visible through my sights. On a positive note, I was able to keep Roxie away from the deadly chocolates, which, by the way, were delicious!

Sorry, I could not save the bunny. Bad Roxie Bad...

The Battle of the Bulb

The war has just begun and the church of climatology has won a few of the battles so far, and will no doubt win several more. They use propaganda to convince the public how dire their cause is. Distorting and exaggerating the truth is the norm as is pushing for change that they claim will save our planet. Yet it seems that many of their cures are worse than the problem once you take a good look at them. The banning of the incandescent electric light bulb in favor of the compact fluorescent bulb, as it turns out, might yet be another one of those not so well thought out plans. Unless of course you have invested in the Chinese market that manufacturers most of the CF bulbs and don't mind the fact that China is doing nothing to help the cause of fighting the evil climate change.

I will admit that I personally had changed over to CFL's a couple years ago to try to lower my electric bill, and it did seem to work. Or did it? The one thing I forgot to account for was the fact that I went from being a two person household to a single person household at about the same time I switched over. My daughter moved out on her own so no more lights left on for no apparent reason, no more stereo's etc. operating 24/7. I have yet to replace a single one of them due to them breaking or burning out. As a result I have not added to the mercury problem that this change might cause. I will also note that Edmonton, being one of the leaders in this country in recycling, does have a program that excepts fluorescent bulbs at either of the two ECO Stations which helps, as long as people are not too lazy, as is often the case, to use them.

Bleakest climate report approved

We shall just toss in a bunch of...

if, could, maybe, possibly, projections, thought to be, likely, probable, chances are, computer models suggest, etc... just to cover our asses in the event that we are totally wrong.

This quote from FARK.com... seems very appropriate...

"Report offers scientists attention, bureaucrats a crisis, politicians equivocation. Oh, and it says something about global warming that will be praised and derided by the usual suspects and fail to change anybody's mind"

Praise the Gore and bash Mr. Ford...

Update: That should be Blast Al Gore and Praise Dr. William Gray

"He's one of these guys that preaches the end of the world type of things. I think he's doing a great disservice and he doesn't know what he's talking about,"

Over the past 24 years, Gray, 77, has become known as America's most reliable hurricane forecaster

Rather than global warming, Gray believes a recent uptick in strong hurricanes is part of a multi-decade trend of alternating busy and slow periods related to ocean circulation patterns. Contrary to mainstream thinking, Gray believes ocean temperatures are going to drop in the next five to 10 years.

Personally I will take the word of someone who has proven himself over the past 24 years over a hypocrite like Gore any day.

Too many business's have joined the "church of Climatology" crowd and are now going green. Doing so is GOLD in many minds. They have caved into the hype and pressure being placed on them from the uninformed citizens and by people like Al Gore and David Suzuki. It is easy for these two men amongst many other wealthy people to get on this band wagon. They are not the ones that will suffer with a loss of income due to job cuts and a down turn in the economy caused by their rhetoric and lies.

Now let me introduce you to a business man who does deserve your RESPECT.

Bob Murray, founder and CEO of Murray Energy Corporation: A CEO With A Spine

"Some wealthy elitists in our country," he told the audience, "who cannot tell fact from fiction, can afford an Olympian detachment from the impacts of draconian climate change policy. For them, the jobs and dreams destroyed as a result will be nothing more than statistics and the cares of other people. These consequences are abstractions to them, but they are not to me, as I can name many of the thousands of the American citizens whose lives will be destroyed by these elitists' ill-conceived ‘global goofiness' campaigns."

We certainly need more people like Mr. Murray to come out and tell the truth about what this scam is going to do to the average citizen.

It Ain't Over yet Folks

Another friend of the past liberal government has a warrant out for his arrest in regards to the sponsorship scandal. You do remember the sponsorship scandal don't you? Thats the one that millions of your hard earned tax dollars were stolen from you by Liberal friendly folks. Oh wait that might not be enough detail as there were so many of those things happening back in the late 90's and early y2k years wasn't there. I know... you certainly will remember everyones favorite ex Prime Minister showing us his golf ball collection during his testimony at the Gomery Inquiry right? I know how bad our memories are, especially when it comes to politics so I will forgive you... a little, if you have forgotten.

CBC NEWS:
An arrest warrant has been issued for former advertising executive Jean Lafleur, one of the key figures in the federal sponsorship scandal, who is facing fraud charges in relation to the program.

Lafleur, the former head of Lafleur Communication Marketing, is facing a 35-count fraud indictment over allegations related to 35 contracts worth $1.6 million.

I know its just pocket change and we should all just move on and all but gosh darn it, I am a conservative and I would really like to see a little more justice in this country.

Conveniently.... Lafleur is MIA and believed to be out of the country. What are the chances that he plans to return any time soon?

Gone too Far

The folks at the "Church of Climatology" are really taking things over the deep end now. A large group including Green Peace, Friends of the Earth and four American cities have filed a lawsuit against the government over its funding of overseas projects that may contribute to climate change. The projects include a pipeline from Chad to Cameroon; oil and natural gas projects in Russia, Mexico, Venezuela and Indonesia; and a coal-fired power plant in China.

Whats even worse is that a federal judge has allowed the lawsuit to go ahead.

White accepted the plaintiffs' argument the National Environmental Policy Act, or NEPA, can apply to the U.S.-backed projects overseas. The law requires environmental assessments of proposed domestic projects. The administration had argued that the agencies were exempt from NEPA.

However, White said he did not have enough information to rule on the question of whether the projects at issue constitute a "major federal action" that would significantly affect the environment _ an important criteria for NEPA.

What I want to know is when is this group going to take China, India and other countries to court for their part. My guess is never, as they know they would be thrown in jail or at least laughed out of those countries for even thinking about it. Our western liberal justice system at work folks. Gotta love it.

Happy as a Pig in the Mud

There could be some truth in that old saying. Scientists in the UK and Canada have found that dirt could very well be good for you. Boosting the immune system as well as stimulating the brain to make you happy. This may explain why every kid in history has eaten at least one handful of dirt!

Lead researcher Dr Chris Lowry said: "These studies help us understand how the body communicates with the brain and why a healthy immune system is important for maintaining mental health.

"They also leave us wondering if we shouldn't all spend more time playing in the dirt."

I have always had my doubts about the value of using the anti bacterial cleaners. My reasoning is basically what these scientists are saying. The more we expose ourselves to, the better off our immune systems will be. By over using anti bacterial cleaners we are not allowing our bodies to build up any resistance to the every day bacteria that we normally encounter day in and day out. I also suspect that those same bacteria build up a resistance to those cleaners and become the super bugs that are becoming more prevalent in our hospitals. I am no scientist by any means, but I do have a bit of common sense and logic left in me. Besides have you ever seen a avid gardener who was not happy muddling away in their dirt?

Taking the Plunge

Anyone who reads this blog at all knows how I feel about human caused climate change. I have been labeled by many, a DENIER. The time has come to admit that I was wrong. Very very wrong. My mistake as with many others was that I focused on the CO2 factor, and not the big picture. Thanks to a little known organization that I stumbled upon, I have been convinced that mans over use of Dihydrogen Monoxide is surely the cause of Human Caused Climate Change. It is also linked to many other problems that plague our planet and the demise of our species. I implore you to go to the following web site and educate yourself on how bad this chemical is and what you can do to help save the planet. DMHO.org
