Within this graphic there is one poppy for each Canadian soldier and one maple leaf for each Canadian civilian killed in Afghanistan. I hope that I shall not have to update it often if at all.
Kudos to Max Fabian who seriously reminds me of my oldest brother...
[...] Anxious employees clinging to their jobs in these uncertain economic times might do well to heed advice from Max Fabian, who next month hits the century mark and is still working.
Make yourself invaluable, he says. And pay attention to the boss.
"Do the job the best you can and listen to the man on top," said Fabian, who turns 100 on March 9. "That's how you keep the job."
Five days a week, Fabian climbs into his Buick LeSabre and drives from his Niles home to A-Z Industries Inc. in Northbrook, where he has worked for more than 20 years as a "jack-of-all-trades." [...]
LITTLE JAKES BIG BOWHUNT Book four. Deer season is Little Jakes favorite time of year. Everyone is familiar with the story of Bambi, but has anyone ever heard the story from the hunter’s point of view. Maybe the hunter isn’t a forest-fire starting, unethical villain that others would have us believe. Little Jake’s pursuit of The King of The Forest is destined to become a classic.
Although I personally hunt with a camera now, I can still appreciate the value in these books. I hope that the author, Robert Jacobs, finds the time to add a few more to the series in the fishing catagory...
At Little Sportsman they believe you’re never too young to be introduced to the outdoors.
Every Little Jake Adventure has a theme. Whether it be a Father and Son bonding experience such as LITTLE JAKE HUNTS ALASKA, or hunting for a purpose in LITTLE JAKE AND THE THREE BEARS. Each book also illustrates a high level of hunting ethics, that every future sportsman must learn.
I do believe I have found some new bedtime stories for my new grandson.
he gets treatment in jail. After all, our prisons are the greatest treatment facilities on the planet, right?... That is why we have such slack sentencing rules and a parole board that allows inmates out early on a very consistent basis, right?...
[...] Combined legal costs for all sides are estimated at well over $100 million. [...]
No wonder their lawyer wants things to continue...
[...] Lawyer James O’Reilly said Friday in Montreal he is advising his clients to take the issue to the United Nations, which recently adopted a declaration of rights for aboriginal peoples. [...]
Gang members should be given free memberships and expert training at the gun range of their choice. This would benefit the public in two ways.
Their accuracy would be better, which would result in better statistics. This could have been 6 for 6 instead of 4 of 6 and these guys could have got the job done the first time and not have had to make a second and now probably a third attempt.
The other benefit would be that with gang bangers being better shots, there would be less chance of innocent bystanders getting hit.
now considered one notch more obnoxious than "a little bit of farting or belching", yet less obnoxious than "a teenager vomiting and his friend urinating onto bystanders". He is "the equivalent of an animal humping someone's leg".
A 13-year-old boy who has had 75 run-ins with the law over the past year was arrested by Vancouver police on the weekend for allegedly slashing a man who refused the boy's request for a cigarette. [...]
[...] "There's nothing magical about the fact that he's 13," Mr. Martland added. While the Youth Criminal Justice Act deliberately requires judges to be slow in using jail as a response, he noted, it may become their only recourse when other sentences, such as probation or community service, fail to effect a change in behaviour. [...]
"slow"?
That has got to be the understatement of the year. 13 years old and already has 75 RUN-INS WITH THE LAW IN ONE YEAR! The system has failed alright. The legal system... this kid should have been locked up way before now.
I sure hope my grandson grows up enjoying life here in North America before that sort of bull completely makes its way to this side of the pond. I know it has started, but I am hoping that some sort of common sense intervenes before we are forced to wrap all kids in bubble wrap at birth...
