PM Harper calls two byelections for Nov. 27 2006 and the liberals have a problem with it as it is in the middle of their leadership race. Well to F@#$ing bad. It is not about the liberals! It is about having the people of those two ridings having representation in the house, just as the rest of the country has. The conservatives have little chance of winning either one of these seats if past voting habits have anything to say for it. So why is this a problem for the liberals? Simply have a decent candidate run in the byelection and you should have it wrapped up in London North-Centre and the Bloc representive will take Repentigny. Are the libs that scared of running against Dianne Haskett in London? Again the libs think everything in the universe should revolve around them and their time line. Canada takes a back seat to the Liberal party business as usual for them.

Actually, the libs will be in a contest with the NDP, as voting pattern has it. This riding is also a NDP PROV previous seat. Don't be so smug. The cons don't stand a chance, and especially with the candidate who is running - the one of anti- gay pride parade claim to fame. The prov libs just lost a by-election to the NDP in Toronto, Gerard Kennedy's riding where he just previously won it with 58%, and locally the Lib candidate lost by a margin of 8%. Even Lib smearing tactics didn't work, or perhaps they did, as polling, before the smear campaign, showed they would lost by a margin of 16%. Pride before the fall?
Me "smug" theres a new one. I simply pointed out that "federally" these riding have been A) a liberal riding and B) a Bloq riding. I did not nor would I look at the provincial vote. They are two seperate things. I vote Conservative for the most part federally but not always, for the NDP provincially as and most recently in the civic election I voted liberal. Yes I do live in Alberta!I am far from a "partizen" of any polictical party or there belief's. I am one of those odd people who looks at the candidate and their record and vote accordingly. Personally I would love to see both ridings go to anyone but the liberals or the bloq! Have a nice day.
I have a question. Since it's part of the election process that the party leader must sign the candidate's nomination papers and make him an official candidate for the elction, and since the Liberals currently have no leader to sign anything for anybody...who is going to run as Liberal candidates in these ridings? Will they be legal candidates if they run with unsigned papers? And if they *shudder* win, will they automatically be challenged on the grounds that they were unapproved by the (non-existent) party leader?
Okay -- that's more than one question. But you get my drift?
Chimera.... Contrary to popular belief..the Libs are not leaderless.. Bill Graham was selected as the interim leader of the party until the election of the NEW leader.
