Now theres three words I bet you thought you would never see together. Me too! All it is going to cost the consumer is a weeeeee 10% increase in the cost of Chinese made toys. A small price to pay to know little Johnny and Janey have safe toys to play with. Ya whatever...
"The damage done to the reputation of toys made in China has been immense and it will take time to turn around,"
Did Chinese manufacturers ever have anything but a bad reputation? To put it bluntly, the only thing that Chinese manufacturers have ever been known for is CHEAP, end of discussion. You get what you pay for...

Hmmmmm... their reputation may have some manufacturing affects on this side of the pond.... might be good news for a change. 10% is huge to manufacturers that have been working on 6 and 8 percent margins.
Just saw something on the news about increased mercury in the air because of China. I guess they're a real mess!

Personally I think that the Chinese should just continue as per usual. Don't give a shit about quality. That would help manufacturers on "this side of the pond" more than a 10% rise in costs will any day...

Would that increase in mercury have anything to do with the rest of the global warming mad world turning to CFL bulbs as their savior? Taking into account the amount of mercury used to make each bulb, multiplied by billions, add in not so great manufacturing practices... makes a person wonder don't it...
It does may you wonder. The article I read was blaming the mercury problem on the Chinese, but the bulb could be the problem.

You do know that almost 100% of CFL bulbs are made in China. There is a definite link here.
I didn't know that Tim. Interesting!
