I am back and blogging. Now that the election is over, where does one turn his attention to? Dino over at BPoC has a little CPoC watch going on. Like him I will be watching carefully to make sure that they don't screw up and are held accountable as all governments should be.
I have spent most of the past week reading left leaning blogs and making the odd comment. What I have seen is not pretty for the most part. But I did see a few rays of sunshine peeking through the cracks at a few.
In the comming months there should be plenty to blog about when the liberal leadership race gets into full swing and Mr. Harpers New government gets settled in and parliament gets back to work. Until then...
Well... Ralph Klein seems like a good target. Little old King Ralph, the man who at one time had idea's and did a wonderful job of bringing this province out of the doldrums it was in. Yes we the fine people of Alberta paid a heavy price to get things to where they are today. Ralph slashed funding to eveything and anything to get finances under control. They were not pleasant times here in Alberta. Now times have changed and Ralphs vision is blurred. His best before date has long expired. New idea's are non exsistent. He continually rehashes the same old crap he has been spewing for the past few years. "The Third way" he proclaims proudly. Yet I challenge anyone to show me anywhere, anything in which he explains this in any detail. He keeps sqauking but we see little in the way of what he actually wants to do. Everyone can speculate and most think of the worst case senario. OMG! an American system! Personally I don't see that happening. A meeting somewhere in between the "old" Canadian system and the American system is what I forsee in the future. The option of having "essential" health care being done in the public sytem in a timely manor or having private insurance that may get you in and out a little quicker and covering non "essential" items. What one would consider "essential" and where that line will be drawn is anybodies guess at this point.
Anywho.... it is time for Ralph to go, retire, resign, be defeated, whatever the case may be. We seriously need someone with new idea's and a new inspired vision of where Alberta will head in the years to come. Who that person is... I have no clue at this point. No single person or alternate political party as of yet stands out in the crowd.

"non-essential" - a mole that "doesn't appear" to be a threat (of course, they don't know if it's a threat until they've cut it off & tested it, but hey).
- warts (unless you are a kid, for some reason)
- optometrists if you are over 18. Which is stupid, because if you're seeing an optometrist when you're an adult it's because you need glasses. Oh, and it's illegal for anyone to dispense contacts or glasses to you if you don't have an optometrist's prescription that's <24 months old. Even if your prescription hasn't changed in 10 years (oh, did you hit a sensitive spot?)
I could go on for days & days.
Ralph has scheduled a leadership review in the spring (March, I think). Maybe we should all buy a $10 AB party membership & vote?
So many strange things in our wonderful healthcare sytem... no doubt about that. Strangely enough I for one have no complaints, in the past six years I have had five major personal dealings with the system. Two in Alberta at the U of A hospital and three in B.C. at the Kelowna hospital. In all cases the system worked very well and everyone involved were proffesional and caring.
March! Hell I am not sure I or the province can wait that long...
Funny you should mention the membership thing. I just said the same thing about liberal memberships over at ABF and voting in Belinda!
Who knows where were going or what the final outcome will be. Why the hell hasn't this third way been released to the public for opinion... guess it's the same old we know what's best scenario with no input from the masses. Oh well... time to flush out the scale in the pipes in this province, anyone that reduces the size of government has got my vote...
It hasn't been released as Ralph is doing the same as Paul was doing during this election.... flying by the seat of his pants. He has no clue as far as I can see. All talk no substance. Ralph got lucky with one study that worked... It is a start but far from proof possitive that his third way is what we need... where is the rest Ralph? Show me the policy!
