I'm Just Asking

Are the tax payers of Canada going to pay the bill to get Canadians of convenience out of Lebanon once again?

The Canadian government is warning people to avoid Lebanon and stay out of Tripoli as a fierce battle continues to rage between Islamists and Lebanese troops. [...]

Observers say this is some of the worst fighting in the tormented Middle Eastern country since the end of its 1975-1990 civil war. Up to 79 people may have died in the clashes over the past few days. [...]

I guess a better question is, should we? IMHO... hell no! If things are as bad as this article states, then those who are worried enough should be booking their flights out now. If they wait till it escalates to the point where they can't get out, then I'm sorry, that was their choice.

I agree. They should know better anyway. I mean, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know which countries are on the brink of civil war (again)

Count me on the NO side, as well. As far as I'm concerned, those who went back after being "rescued" the first time shold have been warned that this was a one-time-only deal (it shouldn't even have been one time, but it's done now, and no one can change it). Anyone who went back should be completely on their own.

It's a litle like people who live on the banks of a river that floods every spring -- when are they gonna learn to move outa the way?

We have that problem here with people who decided it was a smart move to build on a known flood plain... and then we have those who continue to rebuild their mansions on the hurricane costs... ect... not too bright!

So this little survey is still at 100% for the nays...
