This Sounds Very Familiar

I just don't know why. Perhaps you readers can help out here. The first line of this article at CBC that is about protecting Canada's boreal forest, is bugging me. I know I have heard it before. Where could it be? Hmmmmmmm...

Some 1,500 scientists from more than 50 countries around the world [...]

Perhaps this might help...

While we are on the subject, has Canada been given a credit for this mega carbon sink that is capable of holding 186 billion tonnes of carbon?

Seeing our family cabin is in a large, virtually untouched portion of the boreal forest, I can't help but like this idea to some degree. There was some logging done around the lake in the 40's and again in the early 70's, but those area's have completely recovered by replanting and mother nature doing her thing. Anyone who went for a hike in these area's that did not know better, would never know they were ever logged. If we could continue to manage our forests as well as they did these area's, I for one have no problem with responsible logging practices. Unlike Sheryl Crow, I like paper for a lot of different uses.

Trees are crops, just like every other crop. I really don't know what the hell these guys are talking about. Guess were just gonna have to start looking for caves, and hey, will have to cut down trees so we can BURN them to stay warm... Cooooool .. trees lose either way.

Always the optimist eh AB... I agree with your liking trees to a crop. It makes sense. They are a renewable resource as long as the logging companies practice sound re planting practices which in my experience is the case pretty much everywhere I have seen any major logging. It is after all in the logging companies best interest to grow more trees to log! Common sense shall prevail... I hope...
