Hell is for children

By Pat Benatar:

They cry in the dark, so you cant see their tears
They hide in the light, so you cant see their fears
Forgive and forget, all the while
Love and pain become one and the same
In the eyes of a wounded child
Because hell
Hell is for children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell
Hell is for children
And you shouldn't have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh

Its all so confusing, this brutal abusing
They blacken your eyes, and then apologize
Youre daddys good girl, and dont tell mommy a thing
Be a good little boy, and youll get a new toy
Tell grandma you fell off the swing

Because hell
Hell is for children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell
Hell is for children
And you shouldnt have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh

No, hell is for children

Hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for children

Hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for children

Hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for children

Hell is for children
Hell is for children

AB was telling me about the freezing deaths of 2 Saskatchewan girls. I was horrified!!! He was drunk if I recall correctly. I would put alcoholism and poor parenting in the same category somewhat. Symptoms. Symptoms of a greater sickness. Perhaps a mental illness.

Alcoholism is a huge problem especially when mixed with parenting. It is a time bomb just waiting to go off. Its just a matter of when... I speak with much experience on that one. Both my father and step father fell into that category. I will give both of them credit for finally quiting, although far too late to be of much good to my siblings and I. Much of my childhood is still a blank page, which is probably a good thing.
