For a couple years now at least, I have referred to environMENTALISTS that squawk on and on about man made global warming as "The Church of Climatology". EnviroMENTALISTS had taken their rhetoric to a level that can only be compared to that of the TV evangelist. So, when I discovered this one, I was not surprised in the least.

Well let me tell you a little story...
This morning I made myself a nice breakfast. Two eggs over easy, 4 Johnsonville maple sausages, hash browns with onion and four slices of whole wheat toast. As I sat down to eat I realized my coffee cup was empty so I went back into the kitchen to get a refill. I was out of sight of my food for all of 20 seconds... When I returned with a full cup of joe, my breakfast had miraculously disappeared. Beside the table sat my faithful lab with a very guilty look on her face. Unfortunately for Roxy(the lab), I don't have a cat! She has never done anything like this before and she had better not ever do it again...

A recession, naaaah, that is so 1980's. What we need is a good dirty thirties style depression. Yes, that is what we need for sure. A few months of doom and gloom regarding the economy and TADA! Here we are... at least in the minds of the public. It does not matter what the facts are, as long as the perception is there.
Canadians are adopting a bleak recessionary mood, even though the numbers are not that grim, an economist says.
The Conference Board of Canada reported Monday that its index of consumer confidence has reached the lowest level since the recession of 1981-82. Yet the actual economic indicators are not that bad in Canada, compared with the United States, Europe and Japan, said Glen Hodgson, senior vice-president and chief economist.
"The bad news is out there," but now "it's become very personal," he said.
The index fell for the third month in a row in December, dropping 3.3 points to 67.7. The lowest point was 63 in the recession of 1981-82, Hodgson said. In the board's system, the index was at 100 in 2002.
The psychology of bad times is reflected in consumers' expectations that they will be worse off six months from now. "Respondents also viewed the job situation in their communities negatively," the board said.
Yet the latest employment statistics, for November, show that the country added 133,000 jobs in the first 11 months of 2008. [...]

Saving my religion
Actually I don't have a religion. I am agnostic. But I figure what the heck. If the scientific community, politicians, and the UN can have their church, why can't I have mine?

Gramps
My daughter gave birth to a itty bitty baby boy at 7:49 PM yesterday. I say itty bitty as he is only 4 pounds 15 ounces and is 19 1/2" long. No, not premature at all. Her due date was Sept. 11. Mom, baby, daddy and gramps are all doing fine.
