But as per usual, the global warming crowd say, when things get cold, that AGW causes different weather patterns, not just warming.
Anything to make it look like they are right and everybody else is wrong.
Like I've said before, have the tree huggers commit suicide(anyone for kool-aid) and thus they do their bit to reduce the carbon footprint!
The term "global warming" is, unfortunately, misinterpretted. If you think of the temperature as a pendulum, you'll have a bit better (although still not quite accurate) understanding of the term. Higher temperatures also mean lower temperatures.
Chimera, you have to realize that while we as humans may play a small role in global atmospheric changes, the earth has huge changes over large expances of time. we (the earth) experiences magnetic changes, thermal changes, and throw into the mix volcanic and even meteoric impacts, more changes.
So I don't believe the Gores and Suziki's of the world. Especially when they are trying to make huge coin from me for something I/we have little or no control over.
Thunderstick...
First off thanks for popping in...
They did not change their vocabulary for no reason. They went from "Global Warming" to "Climate Change" so that no matter what happens, they are right, in their minds anyways. Too hot.. "we told you this was going to happen!" Too cold... "We told you this was going to happen!" When temperature's are "normal", whatever the hell that is... they get very quiet, they must be hunting bunny wabbits then. Oh sorry they can't be doing that as everyone knows that those of the lefty thought, don't know how to hunt... Guess they are just sitting back trying to figure out yet another scam to take our money. Now if they would like to take some of my money for a worthy cause, say... providing DDT to put an end to malaria, or perhaps cleaning up real pollution around the globe, I'll gladly donate. Carbon credits, ain't gonna happen!
Chimera...
I understand the term perfectly... I also understand why the term is no longer used by the church of climatology goers. Yes indeed the earths climate is very much like a pendulum. It swings one way then the other. throughout one year it goes from hot to cold and back to hot. It is called the seasons. Over a longer period of time the earth does the same thing but for much longer periods of time. We call them "ice ages" and "warm periods". Us humans will do far better surviving a warmer period than we ever will another ice age, which will come, if history has taught us anything. The other pendulum I see is the one of scientific consensus. That too seems to be swinging back in the other direction. Funny how that works....
Tim, I had been responding to a specific comment about a specific unfortunately misunderstood phrase. I wasn't looking for a fight over whenther or not Gore and Suzuki are the Second Coming.
All things considered, though, Gore and Suzuki have more reality on their side than not. The sheer numbers of human "footprints" on the earth have an effect that can now be measured. I understand it. I'm not sure I can explain it, but I understand it.
Chimera...
"All things considered, though, Gore and Suzuki have more reality on their side than not."
I beg to differ... If screaming FIRE in the theater for shits and giggles, not to mention profit, is reality then I will gladly remain in my own little dream world.
"The sheer numbers of human "footprints" on the earth have an effect that can now be measured."
The fact that humans are polluting our planet in a gross way is of no doubt. Should we be trying everything possible to decrease our environmental "footprints"... ABSOLUTELY! We create far too much waste. We have turned this planet into a cesspool of toxins. We over use plastics where other more friendly materials could be used. We definitely need to clean up our act. I am all for that...
Telling me that CO2 is the biggest problem to face man kind and the planet as a whole is a joke. Telling me that the poor polar bears are all going to die if I don't stop heating my home and driving my car is a joke. The list goes on and on...
I put the blame square on people like Suzuki, Gore and our media for screaming FIRE every time something out of the so-called "ordinary" occurs with our weather. There is nothing ordinary about weather or climate. It is not a static thing, it changes. It also does not help that these same entities are making a killing off of this scam. Nor does it help when they do not walk the walk yet preach to the rest of us how WE should. Their claim of buying carbon credits to offset what they do, further proves my point. If I had their money, I too could feel all warm and fuzzy about how I am doing my part. Reality is, buying carbon credits does not change the fact that they spew more CO2 into the atmosphere in one year than the average person will in a lifetime. They simply fail to practice what they preach. This itself speaks volumes......
