I came home to find more news that grabbed my attention than usual.
Better late than never I guess. Our judicial system is very slow, and sometimes it even works. I truly believe this man should spend the rest of his life behind bars for war crimes. In this case that will not be very long. He is 83 after all... CLICK
Sticking with the way back machine and the judicial system, we have the families of those killed in the 1985 Air India bombing wanting a formal apology from the federal government. Cause an official government apology will make everything better. Oh and a big ass cheque of course... CLICK
More recently, our current government fired the head of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission for refusing to allow the re-opening of the Chalk River reactor even though it was causing a medical crisis not only in Canada but around the globe. Apparently the odds of Chalk River being hit by a devastating earth quake was very high in her mind and took priority over the real concerns of peoples health. Surprise surprise, she wants a judge to give her her entitlement to her old job. Well because... she is THE President! I can't help but wonder how many millions will this cost us tax payers to make her go away? Why on earth would anyone want to go back to a job where you are not wanted by the current employer? I just consider the source... the CBC ... that kind of says it all.... Chretien must have gave seminars... I'm entitled to my entitlement .... sheeesh ... it never ends...

No there is no difference. Remeber that in the next election. The liberals promised to get rid of the gst election after election but did they ? NO. Mr. Harper has managed to clean up the financial mess, get the beef and lumber flowing south again and cut 2% off the gst with a minority goverment!!
We know he puts everything he has into keeping his promises and when was the last time we had a primeminister that did that? Remember that the next time you vote , I will.

Thirdly, Although PM Harper is far from perfect, he certainly has been the best PM we have had in my lifetime that is for sure. He hasn't quite kept "ALL" his promises but certainly has done better than any other before him in the past 30 odd years. He has my support until someone comes along that can do better or he himself falls into the political trap that so many do. Power has a way of corrupting people...
Re: the Nazi - good on him, although I recall reading he may just have house arrest, which doesn't seem quite fair, since he's been free as a bird for decades.
Re: Air India and an apology - well, ya gotta admit that whole thing was a massive clusterf*ck, as was the resulting investigations (or lack thereof). As for the resulting report & recommendations, for crying out loud, if the "recommended changes" aren't already in place 20 years later, I sure hope some friggin' heads roll.

He could get "house arrest" if someone over there is willing to sponsor him. Not sure how many people would jump to that request. Possibly a relative might but it would not make them very popular.
Remember, we are talking bureaucratic bullshit here. 20 years is not very long in their minds. If they can put it off for another five years most of them will be retired and it will be someone else's problem. I am tired of groups demanding "official apologies" from the government of the day for something they had NO control over. It has about the same meaning as if I were to apologize to the family of the guy my great great grandfather insulted in the pub back in 1837. Not that I would, his cat was damn ugly!
Not surprised at all. I would have been surprised if she hadn't sued. But to actually want her job back? That is the bazaar part... Lady take the money and enjoy life. Why go back to a place where you are certain to be made miserable?
