Piss Poor Judge... ment

Here we go again. Basil Parasiris admits to killing a police officer, was found to be in possession of a small quantity of drugs, more than $100,000.00 dollars in cash, 4 guns and ammunition at the time of a search warrant being executed on his home. He even admitted he was selling drugs for 3 years after running into financial problems. So I guess the best thing for a judge to do in this case is to grant him bail. Makes perfect sense doesn't it... WTF?

If this is not the most asinine judgment I have ever heard, I don't know what is... I really don't care what conditions he has or how much bail his relatives had to post. Justice? What justice? We don't need no stinking justice... this is Canada, where everyone is inherently good in the eyes of the courts.

Now that I have gotten that off my chest, when did 5 AM become night time? One more question that I would like answered is, when did performing a "dynamic entry" during a search warrant become a Knock Knock joke? Never mind, I just realized I already know the answers to both. When you let Quebec Superior Court Justice Jean-Guy Boilard make that call. Disgusting, absolutely disgusting.

Update:
On cue, the conservative government announces that it has named Steve Sullivan as Ombudsman for victims of crime.

Sullivan will help give victims a voice at all stages of the criminal justice system.

I think Mr. Sullivan is going to be a very busy man. The above case could be a very good place for him to start working...

Don't anyone be getting too excited about Sullivan's appointment. He's being given the post in an effort to shut him up about the rights of victims of crime.

The criminal courts in this country do not acknowledge that victims exist, and until they do, nothing else will be done that has any real meaning.

But in regards to Parasiris getting bail...he should not have been charged in the first place, IMO. The cops were not only the aggressors in this case, but they had the wrong house! They broke down the wrong door and scared the shit outa everyone in the house.

I'd a shot the sunzabitches, too.

Chimera... The only place that I have seen it claimed that they were at the wrong address was at another blog. I have tried to find something to back that up to no avail. The judge in this case has not mentioned it either. If that allegation was true, I am sure we would be hearing more about that fact. Prove me wrong...
The facts that have been brought out so far are as I have stated in this post. He admits to selling drugs for at least 3 years... He had loaded weapons improperly stored in his home... Drugs were found in the home... and lastly he used excessive force in protecting himself and his family, killing a police officer. This man should not be out on bail... period!

I blogged about it, as well as commented all over the place. I just tried going back over my links to find where it was mentioned that the cops had the wrong address, and I can't find it. It was in a news article that also mentioned that Tessier had only been on the drug squad for a few days, but that he had been one of the first in the door -- another thing I thought was stupid of them. There was also an admission from the cops that the only drugs they found were for personal use (I think Viagra was mentioned ), not trafficking.

This is irritating.

I went back to your post in march on this as well as Jays and Mikes post and nowhere is there any link to any article that mentions anything about the police being at the wrong house. Lots of speculation on all three posts about what happened though. His lawyer was the one that mentioned the viagra... Which also brings up more questions... funny that this is the same lawyer who represented "Mom" Hells Angels leader Maurice Boucher. It is well known that they control all drug sales in the Montreal area... coincidence? Perhaps...

I have no doubt that they were at the right house or the judge would have tossed this out completely not just criticize how the warrant was executed.
