In one quick belch, Mother Nature wipes out all human attempts to control the amount of CO2 in our atmosphere and the planets climate. Why does she hate us so?
Our puny attempts are futile. Nature is all powerful. Why fight it? Live with it...

No Excuse part three
Sycrude has finally come out and apologized for their screw up.
An oilsands plant in northern Alberta has taken out full-page newspaper ads to apologize after an estimated 500 ducks died after landing on a toxic wastewater pond near Fort McMurray, Alta., earlier this week.
Syncrude Canada Ltd., which is partly-owned by Imperial Oil Ltd. (TSX:IMO), says in the advertisements that it's committed to making the necessary changes to its long-established practices to make sure a "sad event" like this one never happens again.
The oilsands operator says it will learn from what happened, will improve its practices and will meet the public's expectations for "responsible development."
Still no donation to Ducks Unlimited. Tom Katinas, we are waiting... Are you listening? Show us you really do care.

No Excuse part two
Yesterday I posted in regards to the news of 500 ducks landing in one of the tailing ponds at a Syncrude oilsands site. I was not impressed at all. In my anger I was not very clear in regards to my reasoning. It is not about the number of ducks killed. Hell, I probably have shot more birds than that in all my years of hunting...
What got me was the non reaction from Syncrude. How they did not report this and that we had to find out about it from a tip from the public at large. That is not acceptable!
The image of the oilsands projects as "not environmentally friendly" is bad enough without shit like this happening. The Alberta government is now spending 25 million dollars of OUR MONEY to try and curb this poor image.
[...] Environment Minister Rob Renner concedes the incident has put a major dent in Alberta's efforts to counter the message being spread by environment groups that the massive northern oilsands projects are taking a major toll on the environment.
“It's a real blow to our messaging that we are working very, very hard ensure that we do have sustainable development,” Mr. Renner told The Canadian Press.
“Are people going to focus on this for their own political interests? Of course they are,” said the minister. “Does this mean that we're not doing an adequate job of protecting the environment? No it doesn't.” [...]
How do you think this news is going to go over internationally? EnvironMENTAL groups love this sort of thing. They will use it as ammunition in their rhetoric to bash these projects even more so.
Prime Minister Harper see's it in the same light as I do.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper says there's no doubt that Canada's environmental image has been hurt by the deaths of 500 ducks on a toxic oilsands tailings pond in northern Alberta.
Harper says this loss of wildlife should not have happened and he says federal officials are investigating. [...]
Syncrude... do the right thing, Cut a check right now and send it to Ducks Unlimited and at least save some face here.

NO EXCUSE!
Storm blamed for demise of 500 ducks in Alberta Which is the biggest pile of crap of an excuse Syncrude could come up with. To say I am dismayed and disgusted is an understatement. I truly hope that Syncrude gets nailed to the cross for this. There simply is no excuse for this to happen. May I suggest a 1 million dollar fine and a 1 million dollar donation to Ducks Unlimited.
"Good for my land. Good for my business."
The gall of Syncrude not to report this immediately is quite disturbing. If this is their idea of "responsible and sustainable" I may have to re think my support for the development of Alberta's oil sands. I am not impressed. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER PEOPLE!

Oils well that ends well
Compare the following...
Those who go with the flow...
Alberta
Soaring high on the stratospheric price of oil, Alberta will spend a record $37 billion this fiscal year to build, build, build and give residents a break on taxes and health-care premiums.
It will also spend money to prime the pump for high-tech investment.
Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan's new government on Wednesday projected a C$250 million ($248 million) budget surplus for 2008-09 despite higher spending as the Canadian Prairie province reaps rewards from its booming energy and agriculture industries.
Newfoundland - Labrador
Newfoundland and Labrador used a gusher of oil-based revenues Tuesday to slash its debt, cut taxes and bolster spending on health, roads and other public services.
And those who don't...
Ontario
Ontario budget funds modest tax cuts, retraining program
Duncan's provincial budget released Tuesday outlines a three-year, $1.5 billion plan to help train more apprentices, boost financial aid for students and help retrain 20,000 unemployed Ontarians. It also includes business tax cuts worth $750 million over four years, including a retroactive cut to the capital tax that Duncan says will immediately give manufacturers $190 million.
Duncan defied a demand from his federal counterpart Jim Flaherty to sharply cut corporate taxes in the wake of grim economic forecasts.
He says his government has chosen a more comprehensive plan to cope with the slowdown.
That includes boosting spending on health care by six per cent to more than $40 billion in 2008-09 — a move Duncan says will help Ontario attract business investment.
The budget also includes a previously announced $1 billion plan to help municipalities fix aging roads and bridges and improve transit systems in greater Toronto and Hamilton.
But a projected $600 million budget surplus falls short of the threshold the government said was needed in order to be able to share the wealth with municipalities.
Related... Hows that "more comprehensive plan" working out so far?
A report by the TD Bank Financial Group handed residents of Ontario a rather dire prediction on Tuesday.
Their province may soon achieve "have-not" status.
British Columbia
British Columbians will be paying more at the fuel pump and less at tax time under a new carbon tax on all fossil fuels unveiled Tuesday as part of the Liberal government's budget.
The balanced budget, introduced by Finance Minister Carole Taylor in the legislature in Victoria, forecasts a total revenue of $38.5 billion and total government expense of $37.7 billion in 2008-09.
The surplus for this budget year is projected to be $50 million, while last year's figure was $2 billion.
Quebec
QUEBEC–Premier Jean Charest's minority government secured its survival yesterday by tabling a ho-hum budget that tried to offset a grim financial outlook with crumbs left in the province's cupboard.
Manitoba
The government will spend $12.2 billion in the 2008-09 budget year and projects revenue of $12.3 billion, leaving a surplus of $96 million. It will apply $110 million to its debt of $11.1 billion.
Total spending is up $395 million.
Selinger is dipping into the province's fiscal stabilization fund to put an extra $47 million into healthcare to reduce wait times and enhance other health-related programming. He will also take $13 million from the fund to put into ecoTrust funds, as promoted by Ottawa, leaving $643 million in the kitty.
$10 million in fee increases
There weren't many goodies for taxpayers, who are facing myriad fee increases on everything from vehicle registration to fishing licences. The fee increases are expected to bring an extra $9.6 million into provincial coffers.
Prince Edward Island
The 2008-09 budget forecasts a deficit of almost $35 million in the coming year, a slight improvement over last year's deficit of almost $37 million. The back-to-back deficits - unusual in Canada these days - will boost the net debt in Canada's smallest province to an all-time high of $1.4 billion.
It means that every man, woman and child living in the "Garden of the Gulf" owes roughly $10,140.
New Brunswick
The New Brunswick government introduced a modest, balanced budget with no tax changes on Tuesday, but it served notice that a major overhaul is in the works for the province's tax system.
The $7.1 billion budget for 2008-09, introduced by Finance Minister Victor Boudreau, forecasts a $19-million surplus.
There are spending increases for education, health and social services but all government departments have been ordered to cut administrative costs in an effort to shave $15 million from government expenditures.
"We are mindful of the challenges facing our economy, particularly in light of the U.S. slowdown and the high Canadian dollar," Boudreau said in his budget speech in the legislature.
"This is reflected in our revenue forecast."
Revenues are expected to grow by $185.4 million, or 2.7 per cent from 2007-08.
The province's net debt is also expected to grow - to $7.1 billion by 2009. The total represents a roughly $500 million increase over 2007, largely due to soaring capital costs for highway improvements.
It means that every man, woman and child in New Brunswick owes about $9,500 for the net debt.
There are no tax increases and no tax cuts in the new budget.
In Boudreau's first budget last year, New Brunswickers were stunned by an array of across-the-board tax increases for individuals and businesses that abruptly ended years of cautious tax cuts by the previous Conservative administration.
Nova Scotia
The $8.5-billion budget is balanced — for the seventh consecutive time — but it provides only a smattering of spending and marginal tax breaks for groups such as students, public transit riders and search and rescue volunteers.
All told, Nova Scotians will pay $105-million less in taxes, with about one third of that coming from a previously announced decrease in corporate taxes.
The province's finance minister, Michael Baker, said he had to take a cautious approach in his fourth budget.
"Our spending choices are strategic," he said in a speech to the legislature as the budget was tabled. "They are prudent."
Mr. Baker noted that Nova Scotia's most important exports, including fish, forest products and natural gas, are mostly being sold to a struggling U.S. market and the strength of the Canadian dollar hasn't helped.
"Nova Scotia exports will face challenges from the U.S. slowdown, exchange rates and pressures from rising energy and wage costs," he said.
Meanwhile, corporate profits are expected to fall, and the population will decline, resulting in a decrease in transfers from Ottawa. The province expects to get 34 per cent of its budget from federal sources.(emphasis mine)
However, the modest spending commitments mean the province's debt will shrink less than one per cent to $12.3 billion — that's over $13,000 for everyone in the province.
I know where I want to be for the next few years as the economy regains some traction. I will go with the FLOW...

And the blame goes to....
United Nations World Food Program wants your money...
[...] Sheeran said the crisis is "a silent tsunami that respects no borders."(Emphasis added)
"The world's misery index is rising … as soaring food and fuel prices roll through the lives of the most vulnerable," she said Friday. [...]
{...] Sheeran said that $12 billion in donations poured in following the devastating tsunami in 2004 that left nearly a quarter of a million people dead in Southeast Asia. "We need that same kind of action and generosity [again]," she said.
On the weekend, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the WFP needs an extra $755 million to cover the rising costs of existing emergency operations. [...]
And the answer is...
The United Nations IPCC and their lunatic solution of burning food for fuel and the CO2 is evil scam.
Take a bow folks. Although you have created riots in Cameroon, Haiti and Bangladesh, (So far!) You have truly earned that Nobel Peace prize along with the not so hungry (unless you are talking attention, power or money) Al Gore.
Oh the irony of it all...

I should be dead by now
According to the latest news fear mongering anyways...
[...] Dogs should not be allowed to sleep in the same room as their owner in case they pass on diseases, one of the country's top (UK)vets has warned.
Acting Chief Veterinary Officer Fred Landeg urged people to be on the alert about pets because they can "transmit illnesses as easily as farm animals".
Among diseases thought to be carried by dogs are common food poisoning bugs such as campylobacter and salmonella as well as exotic diseases.
About 10 per cent of dogs are thought to carry the superbug MRSA. [...]
OMG!!! we are all gonna die!!!!! Well, yes we are. Its the sad truth about life. Nothing lives forever. If you really want to know what is going to be the death of the human race, read on.
I have a theory I would like to share with you. It is idiots like this VET and all the people who tell you that you have to wash your hands a billion times a day. Spray down everything with anti bacterial this and anti bacterial that. They are the dangerous ones. Not our pets. By following these peoples advice, we will weaken the human immune system so badly, that it will be unable to fight off anything. That is when and why we will cease to exist. Over use of antibiotic's anyone? Same principal...
A home should be clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be lived in. Don't panic when your child eats a little dirt in the garden. It won't kill them. Unless of course you have sprayed the hell out of it with chemicals. Yes there is such thing as TOO clean. What are some of the so called "cleanest buildings" we have? Our hospitals, yet they are home to more super bugs than any pet could possibly have. Why is that? It's quite simple. We expose those bacteria to everything while trying to clean them up. By being exposed, they become immune to those very things that once killed them. It is no different for us. If we are never exposed to anything we will never develope any immunity to them.
Hey, it is just a therory. I have no proof, so do what you want. Personally, I will let my dog sleep on the bed with me. I will eat a little clean dirt now and then. I will expose myself to as much as possible. I will never use anti bacterial anything. I will live not in fear, but will enjoy life, as short as it is...
Commenter Roger from London, UK from the article says it best...
Frankly, I don't think it's just dogs you have to worry about sleeping with. Many diseases can be caught from the people you sleep with as well!
- Roger, London, UK
Have a great day...

Reset your clocks
Muslim scientists and clerics have called for the adoption of Mecca time to replace GMT, arguing that the Saudi city is the true centre of the Earth.
And here I thought the centre of the earth was the Inner Core. That big chunk of iron surrounded by the core, then the mantel, and all wrapped up by the crust. So much for all the science I was taught in school...
On a side note...
Toronto was heard snickering and will soon demand that Toronto Time replace Mecca time as everyone knows that Toronto is the centre of the UNIVERSE...

Shits and Giggles
How did I not know of this sooner? Wikipedia with a conservative bias.... It's Conservapedia!
I love the Category "Liberal" more so for the Liberal Brain JPG. It explains a lot!
They also have a sweet little article on Global Warming Climate Change with plenty of links.
Global Warming my ass! One of these THINGS is colder than the other. One of these things just don't make sense... I want an explanation!!!
From Webstores Dictionary:
Al Gore: (n) An organism, possibly human in nature, which is singularly responsible for the emission of thousands of tons of jet exhaust into the atmosphere, in an attempt to tell us that we pollute too much. See also: Hypocrite.

Going to the dogs
Dog saves woman from watery death
News like that always brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eyes. Then I came across this one. Now I am no fan of Martha by any means but I truly felt her pain as I read about her Chow's passing.
Yet, sometimes I wonder about my feelings. When you look at the following picture, what is your first response? Be honest...
Mine was... sadness.... for the dog. My thoughts were... "what a faithful dog, poor thing". I barely gave a thought about the poor soul under the tarp. Does that make me a "bad person"? What does that say about my feelings for the human race? No wonder I am single...
If you want proof that dogs are mans best friend, do this simple test.
Lock your dog and your best "human" friend in the trunk of your car for an hour.
When you let them out, which one is truly happy to see you?
I'll bet a $1000.00 that it will be your dog.
Enough said.
Back to watching Animal Planet with my best friend.

Busy Beavers
It would take more than a couple sticks of TNT to get rid of this one.
The longest beaver dam observed with Google Earth to date (October 2 2007) is located in Northern Alberta. The dam has a length of about 850 meters (2790 ft). It has at least existed at this spot for over 15 years as it can be observed on the 1990 LandSat 7 Pseudo Color Imagery Provided by NASA World Wind. However 1975 aerial photo's show that this dam did not exist in 1975.
The actual location of the world longest beaver dam (that is until someone find a longer one) is just south of Lac Claire, and about 190 km to the NNE of Fort McMurray, just inside Wood Buffalo National Park. [...]
Best of all, they did not require nor receive any government funding at all for this world breaking project!

What Changed?
Fareed Zakaria of Newsweek, interviews Patrick Moore, one of the cofounders of Greenpeace, regarding nuclear energy.
[...] My belief, in retrospect, is that because we were so focused on the destructive aspect of nuclear technology and nuclear war, we made the mistake of lumping nuclear energy in with nuclear weapons, as if all things nuclear were evil. And indeed today, Greenpeace still uses the word "evil" to describe nuclear energy. I think that's as big a mistake as if you lumped nuclear medicine in with nuclear weapons. Nuclear medicine uses radioactive isotopes to successfully treat millions of people every year, and those isotopes are all produced in nuclear reactors. That's why I left Greenpeace: I could see that my fellow directors, none of whom had any science education, were starting to deal with issues around chemicals and biology and genetics, which they had no formal training in, and they were taking the organization into what I call "pop environmentalism," which uses sensationalism, misinformation, fear tactics, etc., to deal with people on an emotional level rather than an intellectual level. [...]
"sensationalism, misinformation, fear tactics, etc., to deal with people on an emotional level rather than an intellectual level." Not to mention ignoring science when convenient to do so. Thank you Mr. Moore for standing up and telling the truth about how environMENTAL groups work. Not that some of us didn't already know this, but it is nice to see someone from the other side admit it.

Back to the cave
I was perusing youtube and found this little blues ditty. I believe it is the new theme song for environMENTALists.
Funny part is. If it ever came about, those same environMENTALists would never survive. They would have no idea where to get their food as all the grocery stores would be gone.

Consequences
Could THIS have anything to do with This?
Last time I checked, the Canadian Coast Guard are the enforcers of the law in our waters. The crew of the Farley Mowat were ordered to leave the area. They obviously did not follow those orders. Surprise, surprise...
Paul Watson seems to think his little group is above Canadian law. Guess what Paul. It just does not matter what flag you fly. Your ship was in Canadian waters and therefore subject to Canadian laws.
Now come the consequences for their actions. And it is about time.
Paul Watson, head of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society said the actions of the Coast Guard amount to “an act of war.”
If it is, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society just lost.
Welcome to the New Canada. One that actually has some balls!

They are kidding right?
Even your license plate can go 'green'
To qualify for the plates, drivers will need to make a donation to the Colorado Carbon Fund, which is a voluntary carbon offset program being created by the Governor's Energy Office. They will also need to pay $55.36 for the plate. The Carbon Fund will be up and running later this spring to direct money toward Colorado-based projects designed to promote clean energy and climate mitigation projects. Vehicles over 16,000 pounds will not be eligible to a Colorado Carbon Fund license plate.
Whew! I bet all those 6400 lb H2 owners are happy that they can get involved...
16,000 pounds? What vehicle other than the massive motor homes or commercial vehicles would weigh more than 16,000 pounds?
Yet another joke brought to you buy the enviroMENTALists...

Ban the Olympic Torch
The new cry from the environMENTALists...
Not to be out done by Al Gore, The Olympic torch has its own
private jet.
[...] the Olympic Torch Relay is adding about 11 million pounds of carbon to the atmosphere. That's 5,500 tons. [...]
I wonder if they took the massive torch that is lit up for the length of the games into account? That thing must produce a whack of CO2 as well. Oh the shame...

Study shows reading blogs can become a habit.
I prefer to think of blogging, and reading blogs, as more of an educational thing. Sometimes it is amazing the news that some blogger's come across that simply do not get reported in Canadian MSM. What makes it more interesting is the editorials that the bloggers give in regards to those news story. Once you add in the comments from the readers, it can make very interesting reading indeed. Blogging is not simply repeating "THE NEWS", it is more about how people react to "the news". You probably have noticed that many of the on line news outlets now feature commenting on their articles. Perhaps they have finally clued in.
Yes, it is a bit of a habit I must admit. Gotta go now. I have yet to visit the 20 or so blogs I visit each day. Bye Bye....

Global Warming
Why do you mock us so...
The day April showers turned Britain white
[...] Yesterday's blizzards were the first significant April snowfalls since 1989.
The contrast with the same day last year, when sun- seekers packed Brighton beach, could not have been more stark. [...]
[...] More snow is expected on Monday, mostly in the North, and showers of snow, sleet and rain will continue until Wednesday.
Tuesday night will be particularly chilly, with widespread overnight lows of minus 5c. [...]
Long winter hampers maple syrup production
Mining the liquid gold flowing from maple trees in parts of Eastern Canada is proving to be a difficult task this year.
A combination of unpredictable weather and heavy snowfall this past winter is causing monumental headaches for maple syrup producers. [...]
Late snowstorm creates havoc
[...] Inside the city, where 10 to 15 centimetres of snow fell Saturday, Edmonton police reported 84 collisions by mid afternoon, including 18 with injuries.
Meanwhile, to the south, Wetaskiwin RCMP called parts of the QEII Highway a no-tow zone for hours as blowing snow created whiteout conditions.
Highways 16, 21 and 14 -- in the areas of Fort Saskatchewan, Sherwood Park and Tofield -- were poor for much of the day.
More snow was expected in Edmonton overnight.
Environment Canada also issued a snowfall warning for Lloydminster and forecast more snow this weekend for Slave Lake, Peace River, High Level, Edson Grande Prairie, Hinton and Red Deer. [...]
Will winter ever let go of its icy grip this year?

Obama threatens US citizens
[...] “I would,” Mr. Obama said. “Not only will I, but I will make a commitment that Al Gore will be at the table and play a central part in us figuring out how we solve this problem. He's somebody I talk to on a regular basis. I'm already consulting with him in terms of these issues, but climate change is real. It is something we have to deal with now, not 10 years from now, not 20 years from now.” [...]
[...] Mr. Obama said he would use Mr. Gore to help forge a cap-and-trade system for carbon emissions designed to lower pollution.
The Illinois senator cautioned that such a system could mean an increase in electricity bills from power companies that rely on coal-burning, and that some of the money generated from a cap-and-trade system may be used in the beginning to help lower income or fixed income customers with those bills.
He also called on individuals to do their part to lower energy consumption.
“All of us are going to have to change our habits. We are a wasteful culture,” he said.
Using compact fluorescent light bulbs, energy efficient appliances, and unplugging power chargers when they're not in use are relatively simple solutions, he said.
“Those kinds of simple steps, if everybody takes them, can drastically reduce our energy consumption.” [...]
Read it all if you care to...
Cap-and-trade system huh. Sounds like Obama wants to cash in along side Gore on this money for nothing scheme that the so called environMENTALists have come up with.
All of us? Will Obama start by moving himself and his family into a more reasonable, say, 1400 sq foot home? Will Obama demand that Al Gore rid himself of his private jet , extra home(s) and also move into a home that is more environmentally correct? Perhaps Obama, Gore and every multi millionaire should share their own personal wealth and subsidize lower income or fixed income customers with their bills.

Stephane Dion on the environment
Stephane Dion's environmental Leadership... He is not a leader in any way shape or form.
Stephane Dion's record on the environment... Non existent
Stephane Dion's signature on environmental documents.... Worthless
Wearing green scarves and naming your dog Kyoto just does not cut it. You didn't get it done! Take my advice Dion, the environment is NOT something you want to fight an election over. That is if you ever get some gonads and force an election.

non-skeptic heretic club.
They "Believe", but have interpreted the "Scriptures" in a different way than most of the members of the Church of Climatology.
[...] Hans von Storch, director of the Institute of Coastal Research in Germany, said that the world's problems were already so big that the added burdens caused by rising temperatures would be relatively small. It would be like going 160 kilometers per hour on the autobahn when "going 150 . . . is already dangerous," he said. [...]
[...] Pielke's new analysis considered 207 hurricanes that hit the United States between 1900 and 2005. He looked at their strength and course and then overlaid them on a modern map that included all development over the years.
He found that the most devastating storm, had it occurred today, would be the Great Miami Hurricane of 1926, popularly known as the Big Blow. Its path through the now heavily developed southern tip of Florida would have caused $157 billion in damage, followed by Katrina, whose toll was $81 billion. Six of the top 10 most damaging storms occurred before 1945. [...]
An interesting read even for those who are of the "Skeptic Heretic" Club.

Welcome to Alberta
Things you should know before settling in...
1: Pull up your pants, you look like an idiot!
2: Let's get this straight, it's called a gravel road. No matter how slow you drive, you're going to get dust on your Lexus. Drive it or get out of the way.
3: That lingering scent in the air comes from the combination of sweat, crops, live stock and oil. To you it just stinks, to us it is the lovely scent of money. Get over it.
4: So, you drive a sixty-thousand dollar car. We're real impressed. We have a quarter-million dollar Combine that we drive three weeks a year.
5: Every person in a pickup waves. It's called being friendly. We open doors for women. This applies to everyone regardless of age. Try to understand the concept.
6: We started hunting and fishing when we were nine years old. Yeah, we saw "Bambi" too. We got over it.
7: Yeah, we eat beef and pork. You want sushi and caviar? It's available at the corner bait shop.
8: The "Opener" refers to the first day of deer season. It's a religious holiday held the closest Saturday to the first of November.
9: Per capita, each man, woman and child owns at least two firearms and knows how to use them.
10: Highway 2 runs north and south, Highways 1 and 16 run east and west. Highways 63 and 43 lead to the promise lands. If you don't like it here, I suggest you use 1 or 16 as your escape route. You could use 2 south but if you don't like it here I doubt very much you would like it any better south of the border.
Enjoy your stay!

The New Golden Rule
You dare to fail my sweet little child! Thats a LAW SUIT!
I think I see where these kids get their smarts from... they inherited it...
Please, pretty please, someone bring back the monkey bars. I'm now certain they were designed by God to give us humans the ability to develop common sense.

Alarming Confusion
Icy start, but 2008 may be in top 10 warmest years
After the coldest start to a year in more than a decade, spring will bring relief to the northern hemisphere from Thursday. [...]
But not in Canada you say... such a pity.
Obviously Mother Nature has a hate on for Canadians.
We know it was wrong of us to stand idly by and let Al Gore show all those explicit photographs of what you're going to look like 30 years from now. But seriously [...]
Sorry Scott Feschuk, but according to Environment Canada's senior climatologist, Dave Phillips... it is far from over. March 20th will not bring spring to Canada. No reprieve for winter-weary, climatologist says
[...] And while Phillips is forecasting six more weeks of winter weather, he says not every day will be like that.
"We typically see in Eastern Canada anywhere of 10 to 15 per cent of our annual snowfall comes after the first day of spring,'' said Phillips. ''Out west some of the big Paul Bunyan snowfalls on the Prairies have occurred in April and May.''
Environment Canada is predicting the first month of spring is going to be colder than normal across the country.
In May, conditions will warm up in much of the East, but the forecast calls for colder than normal temperatures for the West, the territories, Newfoundland and Labrador, and in the northern half of Quebec. [...]
My advice is, don't put away your shovels or your Icebreakers just yet! You will be needing them until the middle of May, perhaps even sometime in June.
Global Warming... Why have you forsaken me.... So much for my love life.

Where oh where did the warming go
They just don't know...
[...] In fact, 80 percent to 90 percent of global warming involves heating up ocean waters. They hold much more heat than the atmosphere can. So Willis has been studying the ocean with a fleet of robotic instruments called the Argo system. The buoys can dive 3,000 feet down and measure ocean temperature. Since the system was fully deployed in 2003, it has recorded no warming of the global oceans.
"There has been a very slight cooling, but not anything really significant," Willis says. [...]
[...] "I suspect that we'll able to put this together with a little bit more perspective and further analysis," Trenberth says. "But what this does is highlight some of the issues and send people back to the drawing board."
Trenberth and Willis agree that a few mild years have no effect on the long-term trend of global warming. But they say there are still things to learn about how our planet copes with the heat. [...]
Read it all
Let me give you brainiacs some help... Its called NATURE, from that we get NATURAL. Which is exactly what is happening now, has happened in the past and will happen in the future. Like everything on this planet, our climate goes through cycles. Get use to it. It is not going to change...

Dion the Leprechaun or Leper
Bumped... and Updated...
Turns out it is both.
Toronto Centre and Willowdale were no surprise. Had Bob Rae and Martha Hall Findlay not won those ridings I would be dead now from pure shock.
In Vancouver Quadra, Dion had the luck of the Irish on his side as it was a fairly close race. Which was a bit of a surprise for me at least. I figured this one would be another Liberal landslide. Joyce Murray managed to squeek out a win in this one with approx. 36% of the vote. The lowest percentage of all the winners.
Liberal - Joyce Murray - 10,155 votes - 36.1%
Conservative - Deborah Meredith - 10,004 votes - 35.5%
Desnethé--Missinippi--Churchill River was the one I thought could go to any of the parties. The Conservative, Rob Clarke, managed to pull off the win. He should be thanking Dion big time for this win. I am sure that Dion appointing a candidate for the libs was the death nail.
So Dion, how is that appointing thing working for ya? You are now 0 for 2... Keep up the good work! I'm positive PM Harper would love to see you appoint a whole bunch more before the next election. He would love those extra seats in the house....
The people decide in 4 bi-elections tomorrow...
Dion needs strong showing in March 17 byelections
Let the judgment begin...

I'm in love
I went to the Sportsman show on Saturday. It was not very impressive by any means. It seems to get worse each year. I doubt that I will waste my time or money on it next year.
On a more positive note...
As I was wondering around looking at all the boats, I ran into the lady of my dreams. She is practical, easy on the eyes, loves the water, loves to fish and goes topless on a regular basis. A package I can hardly resist!
I can picture me spending A LOT of time with her...

Pesky Varmants
It's beginning to feel like Groundhog Day on Parliament Hill.
Two more confidence votes are scheduled Thursday, during which the Liberals will emerge to see the shadow of their electoral prospects and scurry back underground, presaging at least six more weeks of frosty partisanship.
Are the Liberals scurrying back underground, or are they being beaten back into the holes from which they came?

Idle Threats
We have said that we would not bring the government down at this time but come April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November or December, look out. Oh wait, April is not good. April would be foolish. There is a holiday in May right? oh and Mothers day too. June? oh right, fathers day, can't wreck fathers day. July... damn another holiday whats it called again? August has heritage day... thats important to all the immigrants. That won't do. September won't work. That would piss off all the workers. October it is... of 2009 that is, the 19th to be exact!... That will show Harper and his minions!

Leftist speak
The five most common words in any speech or article made or written by a leftist are: may, might, could, possibly and perhaps.
In this one article the word "could" appears 8 times. "May" and "Possibilty" both appear once.
Considering that the whole article only contains 456 words in 16 paragraphs, thats quite the feat. Over half of the paragraphs in the article declare that something "could" happen. They do not state that they "will" happen yet the headline reads...
"Climate change paves way for rise in infectious diseases"
There is no "doubt" in that headline. It implies that infectious diseases "will" rise due to climate change. The report makes no such claim at all.
Here's your homework for the night. Take any of the IPCC reports, it really does not matter which one. Copy and paste all or parts of it into your favorite word possessor and count up how many times these 5 words appear.
Nothing is certain for a leftist. Everything is left vague for good reason. It makes it easier to back peddle...

You can thank Stephane Dion, and the Liberal Party of Canada for that.
Although you may not agree with his party, Peter Van Loan is 100% correct in stating...
“The failure of almost all Liberal MPs to vote is a clear abdication of their responsibility and an appalling dereliction of their duty to the Canadians who voted for them.”
“Why vote for the Liberal party when the Liberal party won't stand up and vote for you?”

Dion, a closet secessionist
Well not anymore...
PQ leader, Pauline Marois, wants to
scrap referendum requirement.
[...] Marois's plan was called a "good move" by Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion.
"I think a responsible secessionist leader should not rush to a referendum, should first build strong support, a clear majority for separation and once it's done it's time to go to a referendum."
So, to add to the list of Liberal imperfections, which include:
A)No spine
B)No brain
C)No Balls
D)no leader
We can now add the following...
Foot in Mouth Disease...

O Bomb A
It has been a bad week for Obama. His campaign seems to be in self destruct mode...
First he is caught in tales of "political maneuvering" that probably cost him support in Ohio if not everywhere.
Then we have one of his advisers resign after she calls Clinton a "monster". Her Iraq comments did not help much either.
While in Wisconsin Wyoming, Obama defended his readiness to lead. He does know how to answer a phone. I guess it is a start...
I would not be surprised at all if Senator Obama calls up PM Harper to borrow some muzzles for the remainder of his campaign.

Turning back the hands of time
Stephane Dion, in French tradition, waves a white flag and returns to November 2005 so that he can hand back the leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada to Paul Martin. That, or his new strategy is to make Canadians feel soooooooo sorry for him, that perhaps the Liberals might get some sympathy votes if Dion ever finds enough courage to actually bring down the conservative government. Is this man not the most pathetic political leader you have ever witnessed in your life? It just gets stranger by the minute over there in Ottawa. Is there something in the water? There must be, as even Harper is not the man he use to be.

Pipe Dreams
UN agency lashes Canada over crack-pipe programs
[...] "The board calls upon the government of Canada to end programs such as the supply of 'safer crack kits,' including the mouthpiece and screen components of pipes for smoking crack," the control board's report says.
Government-funded safe-injection sites, too, violate the UN Convention Against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs, the board says. [..]
I am no fan of the UN by any means. However, this time I am on their side. So-called "safe injection sites" and "safer crack kits" are far from SAFE or SAFER. Contrary to what the Ontario Health Ministry, the World Health Organization or Jack McCarthy says.
[...] "The evidence shows — and this is evidence that's supported by the World Health Organization — … that you really can prevent the spread of infectious diseases through safe inhalation or safe injection sites," said Laurel Ostfield, a spokesperson for Ontario Health Minister George Smitherman. [...]
Guess none of these fine folks read my post... Safe injection sites my ass! in regards to a study that shows a 250 per cent jump in MRSA from 2000 to 2006 in people who are injecting drugs...
But then seeing this is their JOB, you would think they would KNOW about this little study....

I found Stephane Dion a home
It is in Norway.
Imagine you're one of the 13 men on this all-male board of a large company and are told five of you must go to be replaced by women. Unlikely? Not in Norway, where they're enforcing a law that 40% of directors must be female. [...]

Global Warming Pictorial
Back then... everyone will remember this one. Those poor polar bears that were going to drown... so sad... Everyone panic!!!
After the record breaking cold winter of 2007 - 2008. Melting ice is no longer the problem...
And it is not just the polar bears that are suffering as this fox can testify to!
These two are not just monkeying around. Thats the real deal covering them. They do look a tad cold don't they...
I sure am glad I never fell for the whole global warming scam. I would hate to have to be the one telling my children of promises broken...
Finally, this one just seems to some this winter up quite nicely....

Given the Evidence
Justice Danièle Tremblay-Lamer has ordered an environmental review panel to justify its decision to allow a $7 billion oilsands project in Alberta's north to go ahead.
[...] "Given the amount of greenhouse gases that will be emitted and given the evidence that the targets will not address the problem of greenhouse gas emissions, it was incumbent upon the Panel to provide a justification for its recommendation on this particular issue," Tremblay-Lamer wrote. [...]
What "evidence" does Justice Danièle Tremblay-Lamer have that the problem of greenhouse gas emissions, specifically CO2, is in fact a problem? What LAWS are currently in place in regards to greenhouse gas emissions that would justify Justice Danièle Tremblay-Lamer decision? I can give you the answer to both of those questions... NONE! This is clearly a case of a judge with an agenda. An ill informed agenda at that. It is no different than a judge convicting a person for something they may commit, perhaps, well maybe, at some point in time, in the future, be considered a crime. How ridiculous is that? May I remind Justice Danièle Tremblay-Lamer that the debate over AGW is not over. It has just finally begun in the mainstream of things. The so-called "deniers", like myself are starting to be heard and more often than not, the science is swaying to prove us right. Seems as though, strange as it may sound, that the earths climate is controlled by that big ball of fire in the sky and not us humans. Go figure...
Perhaps Justice Danièle Tremblay-Lamer should sit in on some of the seminars at The 2008 International Conference on Climate Change. She may learn a thing or two.

Shock and ummmm SHOCK!
I didn't see this one coming... So much for the "CHANGE" campaigns...
Updated... 3/4/08
Seats won.........popular vote
PC... 73 72 ................. 53%
Lib... 8 9................. 26%
NDP... 2 .................. 9%
Other .................. 12%
Only 41% of eligible Albertan's felt it important enough to get off their asses and vote. 59% have no right to complain about the government that they had handed to them.
Which begs the question statement...
Bye bye Kevin, Brian and this one hurts... Paul. You can now join Stephane Dion in the "we are not leader's" bin.

Paging Al Gore once again
David Suzuki and the rest of the Church of Climatology just might want to make this one a conference call. Please explain this one and then tell me how "Global Warming" is such a dire thing that we should be jailing politicians that do not act upon it.
Lets do this Al Gore style... Roll frame one...
This is not the "hockey stick graph" by any means... more can be found HERE
Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming
Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.
No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.
A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to wipe out most of the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year's time. For all four sources, it's the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down. [...]
Global Cooling is a Serious Problem
[...] It is difficult to say if mankind can stop global cooling, but it is not difficult to say what the reaction of policymakers around the world should be to this newest and real natural threat. Governments should encourage the mining of coal, the drilling for oil, increasing industrial activity, more vehicles on the highways and the introduction of heat-retaining chemical compounds in our atmosphere.
Unlike the mythical global warming, mankind’s ingenuity has given him the tools to deal with global cooling – if we act in time. Invention has often been a human response to cold and its effects. Indeed, human progress has largely been a response to the challenges of nature in general. Often – the vast majority of the time – this has been futile. Mankind cannot stop volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis. But sometimes, if we are prescient like the Medieval Dutch, we can hold back the sea and win quiet victories against our enemy, nature. [...]
Everyone PANIC! or just dress appropriately...
Don't believe or listen to loony people with political agenda's. Do your own homework. Practice common sense. Never EVER believe anything that is even remotely connected to Maurice Strong in any way shape or form!
And this concludes our lesson for the day.

Two months too late
The appeal division, following a month-long review, concluded Mr. Latimer does not in fact pose an undue risk to reoffend.
“The Appeal Division finds that the information available to the Board does not reasonably support the Board's conclusion that you will, by reoffending, present an undue risk to society on day parole,” today's decision says.
Finally some common sense has been found at the parole board. Mr. Latimer is about as likely to re offend as I am to get laid tonight. It just ain't gonna happen!

Stephane Dion is still not a leader
All you have to do is read the headlines....
Crime bill passes in Liberal-dominated Senate
The Conservative government's crime bill narrowly passed in the Liberal-dominated Senate on Wednesday, avoiding an election showdown over the issue.
The bill, which now only needs the governor general's approval to be made into law, passed 19-16, with most Liberal senators abstaining.
Why do we pay these people? Out of 91 senators, only 35 could be bothered to vote on this issue? Get rid of these unelected trough feeders already.
Budget puts Liberals in uncomfortable position
Prime Minister Stephen Harper says Stephane Dion's criticisms of the budget are meaningless, because the Liberal leader has said he wants to avoid an election and won't vote against the document.
"When he comes and makes ferocious attacks on a budget he has every intention to allow to pass, he simply has no credibility in those attacks," Harper said during question period Wednesday.
I don't need to add any more comments on that one. PMSH summed it up very well.
And the best one for last... Maybe... just maybe... even the CBC has realized how dead this horse is and even they can't back it any more... Nahhhhh it simply slipped by the editors me thinks...
'We'll find a way to not defeat the government': Dion
Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion said Wednesday that his party won't defeat the government on the federal budget, but also won't vote in favour of it.
"We'll find a way to not defeat the government and to express our disagreement with this budget," Dion said after a caucus meeting in Ottawa.
He said the Liberals will still have an amendment, but the party has decided not to take the government down in a vote of confidence over the budget.
HUH? Call me confused... The budget is ALWAYS a confidence vote. The NDP and BLOC have already stated that they will not vote in favour of it. If the Liberals are not voting in favour of it then we are off to an election Dion, it is that simple. Oh wait. I have to put my Dion translator on... one moment please... thats better. Dion is not saying his party will vote against the budget. He is saying that they will abstain from voting yet again, to avoid defeating the government and causing an election. This, even though they have serious problems with this budget. That is what you Liberals call leadership? How much longer can the Liberals sit back and watch this circus continue before a coup d’état?

CHANGE
Seems as though every politician running for election this year is running on the platform of "Change". They are not the only ones who want CHANGE...
I will not be the first to agree that some things need to CHANGE. However some people want CHANGE that will only accommodate them and to hell with the rest of the population. This sort of CHANGE is not what we need. If you don't like how the game is played in our parks, maybe it would be best if you take your balls and go home. We are not going to nor should we be expected to CHANGE our culture to suit your beliefs. The countries that you have come from certainly would not do the same for us. ENOUGH already!... (*)

Challenged by responsibility and accountability?
You are probably not a Baby Boomer or a GenX. You were probably born after 1980. Your generation is know as the Millennials...
"They've been overparented, overindulged and overprotected," she says. "They haven't experienced that much failure, frustration, pain. We were so obsessed with protecting and promoting their self-esteem that they crumble like cookies when they discover the world doesn't revolve around them. They get into the real world and they're shocked.
"You have to be very careful in how you talk to them because they take everything as criticism."

Fear Itself
How appropriate...
Transportation Security Administration at Tampa International Airport finds box cutter in back pack...
Benjamin Baines Jr. pleaded guilty to the concealed weapons charge. He seems to think that he was charged not because of what was found in his possession, but because, drum roll please... "he was black and carrying the Koran," That damn profiling thing again! Well not really...
[...] The X-ray image of a box cutter inside Benjamin Baines Jr.'s backpack caught the attention of federal officers Sunday morning at Tampa International Airport. [...]
[...] But it was the packaging that really jolted them: a hollowed-out book that hid the razor-sharp tool. Also inside the backpack: a Koran, a Holy Bible and rap music lyrics referencing police, drugs and guns. [...]
The title of the book that the box cutter was concealed in.... Fear Itself
Obviously this is all just a big misunderstanding...

Ohhhhhhh, thats right, the government needs more money that it can't seem to find something worth while to spend it on...
Maybe if they left a little of that extra money in the peoples pockets they could afford to buy the new energy efficient appliances the government is trying to get us to buy with their measly $100 REBATE... Or maybe trade in our older vehicles for newer more fuel efficient ones... stuff like that... You know, to stimulate the whole economy!

We think for Canada
NO YOU DON'T!
BC government introduces its tax payers to a new socialist shell game.
Ms. Taylor said the carbon tax will be revenue neutral, meaning the government will not use money generated from the tax to fill its coffers. The carbon tax revenue, estimated to hit $1.8-billion over three years, will be returned to taxpayers through personal income tax and business tax cuts, she said.
So let me get this straight... Ms. Taylor is going to tax everyone for using carbon fuels and then she is going to give that money back to everyone. Why does this sound familiar? Why do I get the feeling that those who put the least into this "carbon tax fund" will get the most back from it? I think I see how this is gonna work. Perhaps Ms. Taylor should change her name to Robin... Robin Hood to be exact. She is gonna take from the rich to give to the poor. Or at least that is how she will portray it. It will be the middle income people that will get hit the worst as usual. They will be the ones supplementing the income of the ones who are entitled to their entitlements. Why work and pay taxes when the government will give you money for nothing and injection sites for free!

Peaceful Protests Continue
It is a relative thing. It could be worse. As far as I can tell from the reports, no one has been killed... YET...
Police have arrested 50 people after mobs of youths torched cars and lobbed rocks at officers and firefighters in a sixth night of violence in Danish cities.
CLICK
A wave of vandalism continued across Denmark for a seventh consecutive night.
CLICK
It is not likely to get better any time soon, especially once this film is shown.
I expect to see servers burning in Florida in the near future.
UPDATE...
Oh my, a CARTOON! That tells it like it is...

Whats next
A government permit to buy alcohol? Junk food? Fast food? How about to buy ski's. A parachute? To go rock climbing? Bungee jumping? Ski-dooing? Where does this sort of socialist thinking end? Nanny state contemplates smoking licence.
No one would be able to buy cigarettes without the permit, under the idea proposed by Health England. [...]
Professor Le Grand, a former adviser to ex-PM Tony Blair, said cash raised by the proposed scheme would go to the NHS.
He said it was the inconvenience of getting a permit - as much as the cost - that would deter people from persisting with the smoking habit.
"You've got to get a form, a complex form - the government's good at complex forms; you have got to get a photograph.
"It's a little bit of a problem to actually do it, so you have got to make a conscious decision every year to opt in to being a smoker." [...]
A complex form with photo? Why not just make smoking illegal and be done with it? Oh thats right, the government needs the massive amounts of taxes garnered from smokers to fund the next stupid study for the next stupid idea some socialist comes up with to ban something. (sarc) But hey... lets legalize drugs! ya thats the ticket! They don't hurt anyone at all.... (/sarc)

Where to begin?
I came home to find more news that grabbed my attention than usual.
Better late than never I guess. Our judicial system is very slow, and sometimes it even works. I truly believe this man should spend the rest of his life behind bars for war crimes. In this case that will not be very long. He is 83 after all... CLICK
Sticking with the way back machine and the judicial system, we have the families of those killed in the 1985 Air India bombing wanting a formal apology from the federal government. Cause an official government apology will make everything better. Oh and a big ass cheque of course... CLICK
More recently, our current government fired the head of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission for refusing to allow the re-opening of the Chalk River reactor even though it was causing a medical crisis not only in Canada but around the globe. Apparently the odds of Chalk River being hit by a devastating earth quake was very high in her mind and took priority over the real concerns of peoples health. Surprise surprise, she wants a judge to give her her entitlement to her old job. Well because... she is THE President! I can't help but wonder how many millions will this cost us tax payers to make her go away? Why on earth would anyone want to go back to a job where you are not wanted by the current employer? Talk about self abuse... CLICK

Just for Fun
What song was at the top of the charts when you were born, or any other day for that matter? Unfortunately it only gives US, UK and AUS results but it is interesting none the less...
My birthday songs are...
"Our Day Will Come - Ruby & The Romantics" in the US.
"Summer Holiday - Cliff Richard and The Shadows" in the UK
"Hey Paula - Paul & Paula" in AUS...
Have some fun for a change!
Update: Apparently the direct link to the page for this will not work. It will take you to the Index page only. Once there, you must then Click on the "Birthday Number One" link. there you can select any year, day and month... sorry bout that...

Global Warming... Who cares
When you have idiots in power that cause/allow this shit to happen...
American fighter jets have been scrambled after Russian bombers buzzed a US aircraft carrier in the Western Pacific.
and...
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip -- Leaders of Gaza's ruling Hamas movement have gone into hiding, fearing Israeli assassination attempts in response to a wave of Palestinian rocket attacks on southern Israel, officials said Monday.
What the hell is wrong with everyone? Have we all lost our minds? Why can't we all just get along....

"Safe injection sites" my ass
Dion indicates Vancouver safe injection site is OK
The Liberal party has no intention of advocating the legalization of cannabis but leader Stephane Dion made it clear Friday that under a Liberal government, other Canadian cities could see safe injection sites like the one in Vancouver.
Cause we all no how well that it is working out don't we...
Well maybe not...
B.C. injection drug users carrying superbug
The percentage of injection drug users from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside neighbourhood found to be carrying a worrisome superbug jumped 250 per cent from 2000 to 2006, a new study reveals.
Now if this bug was restricted to those who use drugs, personally I could care less what happens to them. They have no one to blame but themselves. But of course they and those who enable this life style will blame everyone but them for their habits. The problem is that this bug does not discriminate. It does not care if you use drugs or not. It has found a host in Vancouver that has made it very easy for it to spread, grow and survive.
What say you now Dion and those that wish to have more of these sites throughout Canada? Are you willing to put the entire population at risk of these super bugs just to appease a bunch of do gooders and drug abusers?
As a side note.... I suspect that these are the same people screaming at the top of their lungs regarding how second hand smoke is going to kill everyone. Demanding that smokers be banished to the hinterlands...

Influencing minds one song at a time
Music cannot change the world, says Neil Young
Canadian folk rock legend Neil Young said he has lost all hope that music can change the world, as he presented a documentary about his 2006 anti-war concert tour at the Berlin film festival on Friday.Don't get too down on your mission in life Neil. There is some hope left. You have managed to influence at least one mind...
"I know that the time when music could change the world is past. I really doubt that a single song can make a difference. It is a reality," Young told reporters.
An Ohio mayor had a stern order for a company of Marine Corps Reservists: Get out.
The Toledo Blade reports that Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner ordered the Marines out Friday as their buses were arriving for a three-day training mission in the city, where they have periodically trained since 2004.
The 200 Marines, based in Grand Rapids, Mich., had planned to participate in urban patrol exercises in downtown streets and a vacant building, according to the Blade, which reports that past exercises have included mock gun fights, ambushes and the firing of blank ammunition to simulate urban combat.
Finkbeiner said that would be alarming.
"The mayor asked them to leave because they frighten people," Brian Schwartz, the mayor's spokesman, told the newspaper. "He did not want them practicing and drilling in a highly visible area."
I wonder if the mayor thinks that it is 1970 and that Nixon is the president?

What the Flocke? Are they knutz or something?
Those well meaning folks over at the World Wildlife Foundation are upset that the Canadian government is auctioning off the rights to oil and gas exploration on more than 2.9 million acres of continental shelf in the Beaufort Sea, north of the Yukon and Northwest Territories. Perhaps I would feel a little more bitter about this if the spokes person was a little more educated on the topic. click From the CTV article...
"These are areas where polar bears and bowhead whales and beluga whales and who knows what else call home," Dr. Peter Ewins, WWF Canada's director, told CTV.ca on Thursday. "Clearly these areas are important, perhaps critical, habitat for the pressured polar bears."
"and who knows what else call home"????? I bet there are a bunch of people that know what else call that area home. Some of them might actually have ties to the WWF. And and and perhaps, well maybe, quite possibly they might also know about the polar bears habitat. They may even know that the polar bears are not "pressured". The polar bears population has been doubling every decade since the 1970's. We wouldn't want to mention that the disappearing habit has reappeared this winter with a vengeance. Why is it that he makes no mention of the real dangers? You know, like oil spills... Nope , gotta stick to the whole "global warming" mantra. These people are their own worst enemies. Just keep screaming FIRE in the packed stadium when in reality it is just a few people flicking their BIC's. When will they learn?
Take the GLOBAL WARMING TEST. It is only 10 simple questions, but something tells me that Al Gore, David Suzuki, Stephane Dion and the like would fail it big time. It requires common sense!

Paging Al Gore, Al Gore
The citizens of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho would like a word with you. Bring your shovel! Come spring, bring sand bags, lots and lots of sand bags!
Snowfall for the winter hit 127 inches as of Tuesday night, beating the old mark of 124.2 inches set in the winter of 1915-16, and the National Weather Service is predicting as much as another half-foot or so by nightfall Thursday.
If their weather is even close to Alberta's, which I suspect it is, the major snow season has yet to begin. That begins closer to the end of February, through much of March and April.

Concern over Britannia's removal from 50 pence
Royal Mint said it would not comment on redesign plans, but there has been speculation that Britannia will be replaced with an image representing modern Britain.
I thought I would give this one a photoshop shot... I must admit that I stole one of Kate's tag lines...
My apologies to Queen Elizabeth for ousting her off the coin and replacing her with Tony. I do however think that I did the other side of the coin justice by introducing the Mohamed Ali Pasha statue from 1905 in all its glory.
